The Nordonia Knights secured a convincing victory against the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees, winning 23-7 in a football game held on Friday night. The Knights extended their winning streak to two games, showcasing a balanced offense and a strong defense that allowed them to score in every quarter except the fourth. The game took place at the Bees’ home field in Broadview Heights, Ohio.
Ben Chesser, the Knights’ quarterback, had a standout performance, completing 16 of 26 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. He also contributed with his legs, rushing for 32 yards on 13 carries. His primary target was Israel Petite, who made two receptions for 80 yards, including a touchdown. Mike Ebert also played a significant role with six receptions for 57 yards.
Gino Perrine led the Knights’ ground attack, rushing for 103 yards on 19 carries, including a crucial 38-yard run that led to the team’s first touchdown in the first quarter. Liam Kountz added another touchdown in the third quarter, dashing 21 yards to the end zone.
Defensively, the Knights were exceptional, holding the Bees to just 181 yards of total offense and forcing two turnovers. Brendan Hermensky played a crucial role, making 14 tackles and an interception that led to a field goal in the second quarter. Vince Hack contributed with nine tackles and played a significant role in containing the Bees’ running game.
The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees managed to score their only touchdown in the first quarter, capitalizing on a Nordonia fumble and driving 55 yards in seven plays. The drive concluded with a five-yard touchdown pass from Luke Ganim to Jack Kenney. Ganim finished the game with 11 of 22 passes for 97 yards, a touchdown, and one interception.
The Bees struggled to establish their running game, gaining just 84 yards on 28 carries. Eli Beach was their leading rusher, accumulating 112 yards on 23 carries.
Special recognition was given to Ben Chesser, Danny Ours, and Brendan Hermensky for being selected as the Nordonia Players of the Game. Notable performances were observed in various positions, including Ben Chesser as the quarterback, Gino Perrine as the running back, Israel Petite and Mike Ebert as wide receivers, Brendan Hermensky and Vince Hack as linebackers, and Owen Smotek as a defensive back.
With this victory, the Knights improved their overall record to 8-2, and their division record stands at 4-2 in the Suburban League National Division. Meanwhile, the Bees’ overall record dropped to 5-5, and their division record is 2-4.
