At the Madison U Wanna Come Back Invitational 2023, where 24 schools vied for top honors, the Nordonia Varsity Girls Cross Country team delivered an outstanding performance, clinching the 4th overall position with a total team score of 160 points.
Their performance placed them just behind the Steele team, who secured 3rd place with a team score of 141 points, and ahead of the Mentor team, who finished 5th with a total team score of 198 points.
Leading the charge for the Girls Knight Varsity team was Olivia May, who delivered an individual score of 19 by completing the race in 20:05.42, earning her the 20th position. Following closely, Emerson Beery recorded an individual score of 29 with a race time of 20:25.71, securing the 33rd position.
Contributing to the team’s total score points were Sofia Bonanno (20:37.73), placing 36th, Emily Eterovich (20:02.00), at 29th place, and Emma Lutz (20:37.73), finishing 43rd.
Shaker Heights took the top spot at the Madison Invitational with 43 points, while Chardon (131) and Steele (141) claimed the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. Jayla Atkinson of Stow-Munroe Falls emerged as the individual race winner with a remarkable time of 18:06.41. Chardon’s Rae Kawalec (18:41.01) and Shaker Heights’ Grace Kaelber (18:51.04) secured the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
UP NEXT: The Nordonia Cross Country girls will be making a trip to Norton, Ohio, for the Suburban League Meet. This is to be held at Silver Creek Metro Park on the 14th by 9:00 a.m.
