To continue their winning ways from last season, the varsity squad will have a mix of experienced veterans and promising underclassmen who have learned a lot from playing at the highest level. The infusion of new talent is also met with enthusiasm because of its potential to make a big difference for the squad.

Leading the team are seniors Drew Kitzmiller and Ben Mallis, both highly respected and accomplished leaders who bring their exceptional golf skills to the team. Drew boasts an impressive average of 42.7 strokes per nine holes from last season, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport. His outstanding performance includes a remarkable season-best score of 77 at the OHSAA Sectional Tournament played at Windmill Lakes GC, solidifying his status as a formidable competitor. Ben was right behind Drew, sporting a solid average of 42.8 strokes per nine holes from last season. Ben’s powerful drives and precise putting demonstrate his unwavering strength and ability to excel in crucial moments, making him a key asset to the team.

In addition to the leadership of Kitzmiller and Mallis, the team also features two talented returning lettermen from last season who have established themselves as skilled varsity players since their freshman year. Junior Caden Cook, with an impressive average of 48.5 strokes per nine holes, achieved his personal best of 89 last season at the Suburban League Tournament played at Pine Hills GC. Caden’s consistent and strategic gameplay showcases his ability to navigate the course with precision, contributing to the team’s success. Similarly, Sophomore Ryan Mallis, averaging 47.3 strokes per nine holes, reached his peak at the Suburban League Tournament played at Ellsworth Meadows GC with a season-best score of 86. Ryan’s versatile talent allows him to adapt seamlessly to any situation on the fairways, proving to be a valuable asset to the team.

Throughout the season, the team will participate in several prestigious tournaments, including the Nordonia Classic, Brookfield Invitational, Brunswick Tee-Off Classic, two separate Co-Ed events, the 2-day Pfeiffer Invitational, the Aurora Invitational, and four Suburban League Championship events. In the Suburban League, the Nordonia Boys will face off against top teams such as Stow, Hudson, Wadsworth, Brecksville, Twinsburg, North Royalton, and new National Division opponent Solon, further highlighting the competitive nature of the league.

With the ultimate goal of qualifying for the district tournament, the team is determined to continually improve their scores and rankings throughout the season and compete for a Suburban League Title. They are also focused on enjoying the excitement and satisfaction that come with playing golf and having the opportunity to bond as a team. The team will embark on their journey on August 4th at Bunker Hill GC for the Strongsville Invitational, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their exceptional golfing skills.
