On Thursday, October 12, 2023, the Nordonia Varsity Girls Volleyball team experienced a 0-3 defeat on their home court against Brecksville-Broadview Heights. This loss concluded their three-match winning streak and brought their overall record to 7-15.
The match was significant as it also marked Senior Night, an occasion dedicated to honoring the team’s sole senior player, Reanna Turk. Regrettably, it was a one-sided match, with Brecksville (15-6) sweeping Nordonia in three consecutive sets.
The sets transpired as follows: The first set was closely contested, ending with Nordonia losing to Brecksville by a score of 19-25. In the second set, Brecksville expanded their lead, winning decidedly with a score of 25-13. The match’s outcome was decided in the third set, where Brecksville asserted their dominance, securing a 25-15 victory. The Player of the Match award was bestowed upon senior Kyla Shugert from the Bees.
Despite the loss, Nordonia took the opportunity to celebrate their solitary senior, Reanna Turk, who had made significant contributions to the team over four years. Turk epitomized the qualities associated with a senior player: leadership, commitment, strength, passion, and unity, symbolized by “UKNIGHTED.” Her teammates, coaches, and fans expressed their gratitude with a warm round of applause. Congratulations to Reanna Turk for her exceptional career as a knight!
In addition, recognition was extended to sophomore Rylee Kinnell, who was named the Nordonia Player of the Match for her notable performance, which included 4 kills and 3 serving points. Other standout contributors included junior Aleithia Wilson, who recorded 4 kills and 3 serving points; sophomore Madison DuPont, with 8 kills and 3 serving points; and sophomore Mariah Moss, who chipped in with 2 serving points.
