UPDATE: Fatal Industrial Incident Claims Life of Cleveland Worker During Tank Inspection

A fatal workplace incident occurred at a Twinsburg Township industrial park on January 10, 2025. At approximately 9:45 a.m., emergency services responded to a location in the 1600 block of Highland Road after receiving reports of an unresponsive person.

The incident involved a 35-year-old Cleveland man who had entered a tank to perform an air quality test. Two coworkers, who were monitoring him from outside the tank, noticed he had become unresponsive and attempted to help. They immediately contacted emergency services.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Twinsburg Fire Department arrived first on the scene, followed by specialized units including the Summit County HAZMAT Team and Technical Rescue Team. Unfortunately, the worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit have taken charge of the investigation. They are currently processing the scene and examining the circumstances surrounding this workplace fatality.


UPDATE FROM THE SUMMIT COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER’S OFFICE 

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Twinsburg Fire Department and OSHA are investigating the death of Dalion Ambler, a 35-year-old male, from Cleveland, Ohio.
On 01/10/2025 at approximately 9:40am, the Twinsburg Fire Department responded to Emerald Transformer, located at 1672 Highland Road in Twinsburg, for a victim that fell into a railroad tanker car and was unresponsive. Upon arrival of first responders, it was determined that the victim was deceased and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:45 pm. Fire personnel determined that the railroad tanker car was oxygen deficient and as a result, the victim succumbed to the environment. An autopsy examination will be completed.
