“Fill the Bus” to feed the community

In celebration of Make a Difference Day, the Nordonia Hills High School PTSA, along with Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills, Inc., will be hosting the Fifth Annual “Fill the Bus” Campaign to benefit The Emergency Assistance Center (TEAC). We ask for the community’s support to help us “fill a bus” with non-perishable food items.

The Twinsburg City School District has agreed to join us, again, in this endeavor and will work to fill a school bus with donations from their students, schools and community. Collection bins will be placed at the schools in both districts for the month of October 2019.

The following businesses will host community “DROP OFF” Sites:

In Nordonia Hills – Nordonia Hills branch of Akron Summit County Library, Drayer Physical Therapy in Macedonia, Once Upon a Child in Sagamore Hills, The Goddard School in Macedonia, Kindercare in Macedonia, and The Nordonia Hills Rotary

In Twinsburg – Twinsburg Public Library, The Goddard School, and Christ the King Lutheran Church.

A Special Thanks to Giant Eagle-The Crossings at Golden Link of Northfield, The Market District Giant Eagle of Solon, and Gordon Food Service of Macedonia for the donation of shopping bags that will go home with each student in both the Twinsburg and Nordonia Hills City School Districts for this food drive.   Also Special Thanks to ERC Printing for the donation of posters for the drive, and to Steve Noble for providing flyers. And finally, Thank You to the Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills, Inc. for providing a $100 donation to each school district to the building that collects the most food items in weight.

Students, staff and the two communities are asked to leave non-perishable food items in any of the collection bins in these locations. Volunteers, including Nordonia Tiger Den 216 and Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills, Inc., will be collecting donations from the Nordonia District schools and Nordonia community partners’ drop off locations throughout the month and delivering directly to TEAC for labeling and weighing. Twinsburg resident Dani Bucknell will be collecting donations in Twinsburg from the Twinsburg District schools and Twinsburg community partners drop off locations throughout the month and also delivering them directly to TEAC for labeling and weighing. In 2018 this food drive collected 19,600 pounds of non-perishable food items from both communities. Our goal this year is to collect over 20,000 pounds!

The collection for Nordonia will conclude at the Nordonia High School home football game on October 25, 2019. A bus will be at the game to collect additional donations brought to the game.

The collection for Twinsburg will conclude at the Twinsburg High School home football game on November 1, 2019. A bus will be at the game to collect additional donations brought to the game.

Those attending these two games are asked to bring any non-perishable food items for this collection.
