Former Common Pleas Court Judge Joins County Administration

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Sheriff Kandy Fatheree announced today that former Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Amy Corrigall Jones will be joining the County’s staff.  Jones most recently served as Executive Vice President of Administration and Business Relations for Oriana House, Inc.  As Executive Liaison, Jones will assist the Executive’s Office and Sheriff’s Office with criminal justice matters, system processes and policy implementation.  She will work closely with the Executive’s Department of Public Safety and the Sherriff’s cabinet, utilizing her extensive experience in criminal justice, community corrections, behavioral healthcare and the judicial system.

During her legal career, Jones practiced at the trial and appellate levels and handled cases throughout the State of Ohio.  She also served as guardian ad litem for children and as a court appointed guardian for adults needing advocacy.  Jones was elected to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas General Division in 2012 and re-elected in 2018.  During her judicial tenure, she served as Presiding Judge in 2016 and Administrative Judge from 2017 until 2022.  Jones also established the Summit County Valor Court in 2012 and the Summit County Offender Recidivism Reduction Project (SCORR) in 2019. Through Valor Court, veterans involved in the criminal justice system are provided access to programs and resources that help them address any physical and mental trauma needs they have upon returning to civilian life. SCORR aims to reduce recidivism, drug use, and increase compliance with the terms of probation among high-risk/high-need probationers to enhance their chances at successful completion of community control supervision.

While at Oriana House, Jones oversaw the administration and operations comprising 800 employees and generating an annual revenue of $72 million. She was designated as the authorized negotiator for the Federal Bureau of Prisons contract within the Cuyahoga County area. Jones also developed and executed an analysis and restructuring of the Behavioral Health Department, which included implementation of an advanced electronic health record system, the establishment of a billing clearinghouse in compliance with Medicaid redesign and advancing Ohio’s first Behavioral Healthcare Apprenticeship program in collaboration with OHMAS and OARP.

Executive Shapiro and Sheriff Fatheree both said of Jones, “she will assist both offices to further collaborate with each other and with community partners and stakeholders to enhance programs and serve all residents of Summit County.”
