From Nordonia Schools: All Students will return to school 5 days a week starting September 28, if Summit County remains in the yellow zone

Dear Nordonia Families,
As you may know, every Thursday the Ohio Public Health Advisory System (OPHAS) is updated to reveal each county’s color code. Yesterday afternoon Summit County entered level 1, the Yellow zone.

Accordingly–assuming the county stays in the Yellow zone–Option 1 students will return to school five days per week starting Monday, September 28. Masks for all students and staff will still be required except for those with documented medical conditions preventing them from safely wearing masks. Option 2 students will remain in remote learning through the first semester at minimum.

I am announcing this today so you can begin to make whatever plans you need to prepare for this change. After the new color codes are announced next Thursday, I will send an update either confirming the five day per week restart on September 28 (if Summit County remains in Yellow) or a continuance of the hybrid model (if Summit County reverts back to Orange or Red).

Clearly this is a fluid system, and things can change from week to week. The best way we can stay in the Yellow zone is to wear our masks, stay physically distant, and wash our hands vigorously and often.

To repeat, if Summit County remains in the Yellow zone through next Thursday’s OPHAS update, Option 1 students will return to school five days a week on Monday, September 28.
Thanks for your continued support of the Nordonia Schools, and Go Knights!

Sincerely,
Joe Clark, Ph.D.
Superintendent
