A new school year is about to begin, and you can already feel the change across our community. School buses will soon be back on the roads, athletic fields will be busy, and students will once again fill our buildings. Students begin returning on Thursday, August 20, with the full school year underway by the end of the month.
Even if you do not have a child in our schools, the start of a new year matters. Our schools are part of what brings Nordonia Hills together. They are where students learn, compete, perform, build friendships, and begin figuring out who they want to become. What happens in our schools eventually reaches every part of our community.
Our theme for the 2026–2027 school year is “Beyond the Bell: The Nordonia Story.”
The Nordonia story is not only written during class. It is written on buses and playgrounds, at concerts and athletic events, and through the small moments when someone takes the time to help a student. Sometimes that means offering another chance, noticing when something is wrong, or simply making sure a student knows that someone believes in them.
Academic achievement remains at the center of our work. We will continue focusing on student growth, strong instruction, graduation, and preparing students for college, careers, trades, military service, and life after Nordonia. But behind every test score and graduation statistic is a student with a different story.
Strong relationships often make achievement possible. Students do better when they feel seen, supported, and challenged by the people around them.
That idea also reflects our district’s strategic plan, Stronger Together. Our schools cannot do this work alone. It takes staff, families, local businesses, civic groups, public officials, first responders, and residents working together. Whether you volunteer, attend a student performance, support a team, partner with one of our schools, or simply encourage a young person, you are part of the Nordonia story.
I want to thank our staff members who have worked throughout the summer to prepare for the year. Our custodians, maintenance employees, transportation team, secretaries, teachers, administrators, and many others have put in a great deal of work before students ever walk through the doors.
I also want to thank the entire Nordonia Hills community for continuing to support our students and schools. A strong school district helps create a strong community, and a strong community gives our students more opportunities to succeed.
The story of this school year has not been written yet. We look forward to writing it together.
