As we close out the 2024–2025 school year and step into summer, I want to thank our students, staff, families, and the broader Nordonia community for another year of partnership and support.
Every school year brings its share of challenges and achievements. This one was no different. We celebrated academic growth, student leadership, musical and athletic accomplishments, and the daily work that happens quietly and steadily in classrooms across the district. At the same time, we faced difficult financial decisions that required us to make adjustments. Through it all, our mission stayed the same—supporting student success in a safe and supportive environment.
One of the most important ways we support that mission is by maintaining buildings that are dry, safe, and warm. It’s a simple philosophy, but one that drives much of our work. A roof that doesn’t leak. A classroom that’s warm in the winter and cool in the fall. Entrances and hallways that feel secure. These things matter—and they’re often invisible until they’re not.
This summer, we’re investing directly in that priority:
- At Nordonia High School, we’re replacing roof sections D and E
- At Rushwood Elementary, sections B, F, and G
- At Nordonia Middle School, section F
These projects are part of a multi-year approach. Since 2023, we’ve completed roof improvements at the high school, Lee Eaton, Northfield Elementary, and Rushwood. We manage more than 13 acres of roofing across the district, and we replace sections gradually, based on need and available funding. Your support of the recent levy made this work possible, and we are putting that investment to good use.
We’re also continuing important safety work. Our partnerships with local law enforcement remain strong, and School Resource Officers will continue to be present in all buildings next year, helping build positive relationships and ensuring a safe environment.
To the Class of 2025—congratulations. We’re proud of what you’ve accomplished and excited for what’s ahead.
To our families and staff—thank you for another year of commitment, care, and resilience. I hope your summer is filled with rest, time with loved ones, and moments that remind you why this work matters.
We’ll be ready to welcome everyone back in August.
