Get In Return What You Put Into The World

Madi Kopacz recently helped the Chamber of Commerce with a fundraising Summer Luau event, where the proceeds went to two local scholarship funds. She helped put together some side games and party planning. In 2017, Madi remembers all too well- the feeling of winning one of those scholarships.  She won the Nancy Fike scholarship from an essay she submitted titled, “Life Is an Echo”. The essay highlighted “getting in return what you put out to the world”.  Madi’s scholarship went to great use.  She went to Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, where she studied cosmetology and obtained her cosmetology license.  Then she attended Cuyahoga Community College, earning an Associate Degree in Salon Small Business Management, while being a softball athlete. She thinks back on her experiences as preparing her for the real world, and is grateful. She also likes to mention that she met her husband at Nordonia High school.

In 2019, Madi met Katie Gross, owner of Suburban Lash and Beauty.  Shortly thereafter, Madi was trained in applying eyelash extensions. She always knew that she wanted to expand her services past doing hair, so this was a great opportunity for her as the Suburban Lash and Beauty’s first hired employee. Her love of learning has led Madi to become the product and technology trainer alongside Katie, for Endure Beauty. She is excited about being able to train others in her craft, and has always dreamed of such an opportunity.

Suburban Lash is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.  Giving back to the community and other foundations is something they strive to do.  Madi says, “being someone who works in the same community I was raised in, I am humbled to be a part of benefiting other community members.  Throughout my life, the Nordonia community has always supported me and given to me. Now it is coming back full circle”.

Information about the Nancy Fike Scholarship may be obtained via The Chamber of Commerce. All seniors who attend Nordonia High School have the opportunity to write essays anonymously, for a chance to win local scholarships.  Each foundation or person picks their recipient based solely on their writing.
