Break Up the Tasks

A lot of people think that cleaning their house has to be in depth, like spring cleaning, but the reality is that doing a huge deep clean is a massive undertaking to put on yourself. Don’t try to tackle everything all at once—that’s how you end up feeling overwhelmed. If you break up the tasks day by day (or even hour by hour), you’ll find that you won’t have as much anxiety because you’ll be able to see the finish line.

Always Finish a Task Fully

One of the best ways to avoid feeling overwhelmed while cleaning is to make sure that you don’t flit from one task to the other too often. Try to keep your mind focused on a singular task at a time and keep doing it until it’s completely done. Even if you find something that you desperately want to clean in the middle of your current duty, finish the task you’re doing first, so you don’t end up with a bunch of half-finished tasks.

Start With a Small Area

The bigger your home is, the more overwhelming it can be to think about cleaning everything. Rather than attacking your whole home at once, start by cleaning one area of one room. Keep that one small area clean for as long as you can. When you feel comfortable enough to continue, expand that area outward.
