Incumbents were either re-elected or unopposed in a variety of Nordonia Hills area elections.
Several local Issues were also on the ballots as well as a woman’s abortion rights and marijuana legalization.
Overall voter turnout in Summit County was just 21.47 percent of the 372,216 registered voters, according to the Summit County Board of Elections.
All results are final but still unofficial. The Board of Elections will meet at a later date to certify the results as official.
Nordonia Hills Board of Education
Incumbent Liz McKinley was the top vote-getter with 1,450 votes, or 35.81 percent, according to the final, but still unofficial numbers, from the Summit County Board of Elections. Incumbent Chad Larhmer received 1,331 votes, or 32.87 percent.
Tim Ellis received 1,268 votes, or 31.32 percent.
According to the Summit County Board of Elections, 11.37 percent of the 24,274 registered Nordonia Hills voters cast ballots for the School Board.
Macedonia
Mayor Nick Molnar ran unopposed and received 4,166 votes.
Two City of Macedonia Council-at-large seats were open and both incumbents ran unopposed.
David Finley received 2,632 votes, or 47.96 percent. Jeff Garvas received 2,857 votes, or 52.04 percent.
According to the Summit County Board of Elections, 58.65 percent of Macedonia’s 9,077 registered voters cast ballots.
Issue 24: Passed
A Macedonia City Charter amendment to allow the Board of Zoning and Building Code Appeals up to two alternate members appointed by the Mayor or his/her designee to serve in the event a regular member is unavailable, passed with 2,805 votes, or 59.99 percent for, and 1,871 votes, or 40.01 percent against.
Issue 25: Passed
A Macedonia Charter amendment reorganizing Article XIII to reflect the current organization and operation of the Parks and Recreation Department and Parks and Recreation Commission passed with 3,610 votes, or 79.18 percent for, and 949, or 20.02 percent against.
Issue 26: Passed
An amendment to the Charter of the City of Macedonia to clarify the full-time employees within the City’s Police and Fire Departments that are members of the classified civil service passed with 3,864 votes or 84.24 percent for, and 723 votes, or 15.76 against.
Village of Northfield
Incumbent Mayor Jennifer Domzalski was re-elected and received 717 votes, or 65.84 percent. Keith Czerr received 372 votes, or 34.16 percent.
Two Council seats were open. Incumbent Kevin Lewis was the top vote-getter with 551 votes or 41.46 percent. Incumbent Gary C. Voitush, Sr. received 394 votes, or 29.65 percent. Yulia Gray received 384 votes, or 28.89 percent.
According to the Summit County Board of Elections, 49.87 percent of the 2,298 registered Village of Northfield voters cast ballots.
Northfield Center Township
One Trustee spot was open. Incumbent Richard Reville was the top vote-getter and received 1,403 votes or 65.71 percent. Samuel Antonio Morgante received 732 votes, or 34.29 percent.
Fiscal Officer
Incumbent Andy LaGuardia ran unopposed and received 1,474 votes.
Northfield Center Township
Issue 6: Defeated
A Tax Levy (Additional) to pay for police protection was defeated with 1,443 votes, or 57.81 percent, against and 1,053 votes, or 42.19 percent for.
According to the Summit County Board of Elections, 60.88 percent of 4,236 registered Township voters cast ballots.
Sagamore Hills Township
The Township Trustee and fiscal officer ran unopposed.
Incumbent Trustee John Zaccardelli received 3,672 votes. Incumbent Fiscal Officer Laura Steimle received 3,412 votes.
According to the Summit County Board of Elections, 63.07 percent of 8,389 Sagamore Hills registered voters cast ballots.
Issue 17 A Summit County Replacement Tax Levy: Passed
The replacement tax will benefit the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board by providing community developmental disabilities programs and services for children and adults and passed with 113,985 votes or 61.85 percent for, and 70,322 votes, or 38.15 against.
Two state-wide Issues both passed.
State Issue 1 Reproductive Rights: Passed
The Issue deals with reproductive rights for a woman to decide her own reproductive medical treatment, including but not limited to abortion. The Issue passed statewide with 2,186,962 votes or 56.62 percent for, and 1,675,728 votes or 43.38 percent against.
State Issue 2 Legalize Marijuana: Passed
The Issue to legalize marijuana growth and use in Ohio passed statewide with 2,186,962 votes or 56.62 percent for, and 1,675,728 votes, or 43.03 percent against.
The law will become effective 30 days after the election.
