Hello, my name is Devin Parish, a senior at Nordonia High School who plans on interning for Nordonia hills news and this article is about me. Now, most of you have probably never heard of me which is not surprising since it’s more my style to be the man behind the camera instead of the man in front of it.
I first started getting into video making when I came to Nordonia in 10th grade and participated in my all time favorite class video production; However, I have been interested in video editing since way back but never had a way to learn or improve my skills. The only thing I could edit on was my phone since my computer couldn’t run anything other than small pc games. So I never even used anything nice like adobe or sony vegas before, so it was a good thing that the type of videos I worked on when I was younger was simple and didn’t require too much editing.
When my 2 cousins and I get together sometimes we would make little short movies that would always focus on horror (it was the only thing interested we could do). One of my cousins (let’s call him don) would always be the main character of the movie while the other one (let’s call him dee) would be the producer/cameraman.
That left me with the role of video editing while also filling in for them depending on the scene. It was fun and we even made a 3 part series with each taking part at different houses. I think those fun memories are the reason why I enjoy video editing so much and take pride whenever I finish any project.
But I’ve been out of it recently since I don’t have a computer to edit with so my skills haven’t improved much; But I plan to get my own computer that can run editing software and start making videos for fun again in college as a side. Speaking of college it is also the reason why I’ve chosen to work with Mrs. D’Aloiso since I’ve decided to major in digital media production. As Mrs. D’Aloiso is someone who works in the media field I hope to learn many video skills and techniques as well as insight on how she uses the media to get the word out.
