Jason Cox’s Big Day Propels Twinsburg Varsity Tigers Past North Royalton

Jason Cox drove in four runs on three hits to lead Twinsburg Varsity Tigers past North Royalton 13-10 on Tuesday at Dodge Intermediate School. Cox singled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring two.

Bats blistered as Twinsburg Varsity Tigers collected 15 hits and North Royalton tallied six in the high-scoring game.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lane Conway singled, scoring one run, William Bamler singled, scoring one run, Cole Kramer singled, scoring one run, Martwon Shannon doubled, scoring two runs, and Gavin Davis singled, scoring one run.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Cox and Kramer.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Cox singled, scoring two runs, #14 induced Conway to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Bamler doubled, scoring one run.

North Royalton scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning. #8 singled, scoring one run, #17 doubled, scoring one run, Ryan Hojdar induced #25 to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, #14 hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and #4 singled, scoring one run.

Owen Shinada earned the win for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The righty surrendered one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking none. #4 took the loss for North Royalton. The pitcher went one inning, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one. Carter Klominek, Hojdar, Nate Luca, and Jeff Klominek each appeared in relief for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers accumulated 15 hits in the game. Kyler Hoon and Cox were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. Kramer, Bamler, and Davis each collected multiple hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers.

#14 led the team with three runs batted in. Number nine hitter, #17, showed the depth of North Royalton’s lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. North Royalton had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. North Royalton were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. #1 had the most chances in the field with five.
