Lakeland Dental Hygiene Clinic Now Scheduling Appointments

Nov. 11, 22 – Kirtland, Ohio – The Lakeland Community College Dental Hygiene program is now scheduling appointments for members of the public to receive preventive dental hygiene services in their state-of-the-art dental hygiene clinic located on the ground of the college’s Health Technologies Building. Lakeland is located at 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094.

The dental hygiene service includes an oral exam, periodontal examination, prophylaxis (cleaning), any necessary X-rays, fluoride treatment and patient dental health education. See below for a full list of services provided in the clinic. Lakeland dental hygiene students perform the services under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygiene faculty.

The clinic will be open for appointments starting Sept. 1 through the end of fall semester and will be open for appointments again during spring 2023 semester. Please note: this is a teaching facility, each appointment lasts 3-4 hours and more than one appointment may be needed to complete treatment.

A brief (20-30 minute) screening appointment is necessary before the first appointment for patients new to the clinic. Fees for the appointment(s) cover the treatment material. Patients ages 17 and younger and senior citizens 60+, $20; ages 18-59, $25. Lakeland students, $20.

About Lakeland’s Dental Hygiene Clinic
As part of their requirements for graduation, students need to perform services on patients in the dental hygiene clinic. The clinic is open to interested adults and children in the community. Appointments must be made in advance. The services will be performed by a dental hygiene student under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygiene faculty. Services performed are limited to preventive treatment. Preventive treatment can include: an oral examination,oral cancer screening, oral prophylaxis (scaling and polishing the teeth), oral health education, nutritional counseling, necessary radiographs (x-rays referred to your dentist upon request), home care kit, cleaning of dentures, fluoride treatment, dental sealants, blood pressure screening, athletic mouthguards, periodontal examination and intra-oral photos.
