Letter to the Editor in Response to “Taking a Stand”

I am writing to you in regard to the recently published newsletter from Trustee Buescher. I am disgusted at his outlandish response on how he is dealing with this situation within the township. At the beginning of June I had written Trustee Buescher asking for his consideration of having the flag removed. I got a typical response of “not all cops are bad cops” and that my request went against our community’s culture.

The thin blue line flag has no place being displayed by a governing establishment. It’s sending a message from the community that the residents don’t necessarily agree with/ If the flags were put up by a private business or on a residential property, the conversation would be different. The flag was also displayed at the same height and angle of the US flag, which is not proper flag etiquette.

As for Buescher’s comments on voter registration, I’m registered to vote and actively do, but he doesn’t mention me in his newsletter. Why not talk about all the emails he received instead of just the one? To assume that anyone against the thin blue line flag, is not a voter, is a very large assumption. I encourage anyone who isn’t registered to vote in NCT, get out there, register, and vote. I would also like to remind Buescher that NCT had one of its lowest voter turnouts this last year when the proposal for the new town hall location was on the ballot.

For reference, I have attached my email conversation with Buescher, and I once again am asking him to have this flag removed from it’s post.
