I noticed in Jesse Nehez’s campaign literature that he was saying he is saving Northfield Village money by hiring part time firefighters. The reason they are saving money is because they do not have to give them health benefits. I think it is really poor of the Village to do this as we trust these firefighters with our lives! Shouldn’t they be the ones to get medical benefits for their own lives. Also, don’t we want firefighters that do this as their main job? I think the Village should look into other ways of cost savings and not this.
