To the City Leaders of the Nordonia District/Municipalities,
As a concerned parent and resident of our community, I would like to respectfully ask that our cities consider moving Trick-or-Treat from Friday, October 31st to Saturday, November 1st this year.
This coming Friday is not only Halloween, but it is also the night of the Nordonia High School football team’s first-round playoff game — a special moment for our students, families, and the community. Having both events occur at the same time poses a real challenge for many local families.
For parents with children in multiple age groups, this creates an unfortunate conflict: younger kids look forward all year to Trick-or-Treat, while older children, especially those involved in athletics, may be experiencing one of the most memorable moments of their high school years. It’s difficult for families to be fully present at both events, and no one wants to be forced to choose between them.
Additionally, from a community standpoint, holding two large-scale events simultaneously could place unnecessary strain on city resources — including police, fire, and traffic control — potentially impacting safety for both Trick-or-Treaters and game attendees.
By simply moving Trick-or-Treat to Saturday evening, November 1, our cities can preserve the safety, enjoyment, and sense of togetherness that make both events so special to our community. This small adjustment would allow families to attend both the playoff game and Halloween festivities without compromise.
Thank you for your time, attention, and dedication to our community. Many of us hope you’ll consider this change so that all families can celebrate safely and together.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Parent and Resident
