“Want to geek out on all things 90’s? Join me, Katie, and my show producer, Mr. 2/5th’s (You’ll hear why I named him this) as we dip a toe into the pool of our favorite 90’s icons like the Backstreet Boys, Roseanne, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Hanson, JTT, and Michael Bolton and discuss how the shift in technology leads the way for how we absorb pop culture today”
-Katie Gross
Katie Gross is a Macedonia business owner, wife, mother, and now podcast host. In my previous article I talk about Katie’s rise to fame through pageant contests. Shifting gears into the podcast world isn’t new to Katie. Some years prior Katie moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2010(she moved back to Ohio in 2014) to record her 90’s podcast vision with her friend Tori who is the second half of the “Top 10 True Crimes Podcast” duo “Killer Queens”. The success of “Killer Queens” is what put Katie’s recording to a halt, but Brian Howie, (AKA “ 2/5th’s) former MTV producer has brought the podcast back to life (Brian’s nickname 2/5th’s because his name makes up 2/5th’s of the popular 90s boy band Backstreet Boys).
The 36 year old beauty queen was 6 when the 90’s began. Her sweet and comforting memories of her child hood is what inspired her to start the podcast. Listen to “Episode 1 “The One With… The Appetizer Sampler” as Katie and Brian re live their most memorable memories of: The Backstreet Boys, the tech boom, cell phones, Jurassic Park, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Boyz 2 Men, New Edition, N Sync, Beyonce, Friends, Jenny McCarthy, Carmen Electra, Rosie O Donell, OJ Simpson Princess Diana and more. The MTV producer also shared details of his brief relationship with “Lost In Your Eyes” singer Debbie Gibson.
You can listen to the “The One With All The 90’s” podcast on any podcast streaming station. In the mean time have Katie do your lashes at Suburban Lash and follow Brian Howie on Twitter @brianhowie.
