Local Veterinarian Made it to the finals in the Westminster Dog Show

A local veterinarian, Kelly Kontur, made it to the finals in the Westminster Dog Show with her dog this weekend.

Kelly was born and raised in Northfield, and currently lives in Hudson. She owns Summit Animal Hospital.

She raised and trained her smooth collie on her own. She is the first smooth collie to ever make the finals in agility at Westminster in NY, and had 2 phenomenal runs to make the top 10. While they didn’t place in the finals, it was very exciting to see them compete against teams from all over, and especially meaningful since most handlers do this professionally. Kelly is a full time local veterinarian and does this on the side.
The finals aired on channel 8 tonight. The qualifying runs can be viewed on the Westminster Agility site. She competed in the 24” jumpers and 24” standard runs. Super exciting for dog lovers to see a local person at Westminster.
