Historical society plans Halloween festivities, open houses and holiday celebrations through December

The holidays are on the way, and Longwood Manor Historical Society (LMHS) will be doing their part in the celebrating. Longwood Manor events take place at 1634 East Aurora Road, Macedonia.

Starting off is everybody’s favorite spooky holiday, Halloween. Longwood Manor, in conjunction with Macedonia Parks and Recreation, takes a different style this year as it acquires the look of Hogwarts and its famed pupil, Harry Potter. Date for this event is Saturday, Oct. 18, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Kids of all ages feel free to attend. Beware the flying books as you walk through.

The final regular Open House for 2025 will be on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tours of the Manor house will be featured, along with the history of Longwood Manor and its former owner and first Mayor of Macedonia, Colonel William Frew Long.

Stop by the LMHS booth at the Nordonia Chamber of Commerce Expo on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Nordonia Senior High School, 8006 South Bedford Road, Macedonia. Information on how to join the LMHS family will be available.

Sunday, Dec. 14, Longwood Manor will be dressed up for Christmas festivities at the Holiday Open House. Families can take Christmas photos by the fireplace or outside on the grounds. A visit from that Someone Special from the North Pole is promised. The Christmas Boutique will be featured for those last-minute gift purchases. Hours are from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
