Longwood Manor News Update (and How You Can Help!)

Work has been progressing at Longwood Manor’s restoration.

Longwood Manor, as you know, was the home of Colonel William Frew Long, first Mayor of the City of Macedonia. It is a Tudor-style three-story structure, located just East of the Longwood Park facilities, at 1634 East Aurora Road. Currently the first floor is open for tours on the last Sunday of the month from March through October.

We are working towards opening the second floor of the Manor House in time for the 100th celebration of the Longwood Manor site in 2026.

The second floor consists of the main bedroom of the Colonel and his wife Isabel, a large sitting room, separate bathrooms and closets for the Colonel and his missus, and two guest bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms. Intentions are for the main bedroom and sitting room to be restored as such, and the guest bedrooms as display areas for Longwood memorabilia and the like.

Support is appreciated with thanks for our volunteers; the community; and the City of Macedonia, especially the Mayor, Council, and Parks & Rec Dept.

Now, here’s where you can do your part…

At the time the Manor was closed down after the passing of Colonel Long many of the items in the house were sold, distributed, given away, or just plain disappeared. We understand some of the property went to Lewis and Dorothy Tedrick, respectively his farm manager and housekeeper.

Longwood Manor Historical Society would be interested in knowing if anyone still possesses items or artifacts from Longwood Manor. We would like to borrow them to make copies, take pictures, or use them temporarily for a display. If you have an item of interest from the Manor, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact LMHS President Deb Mikulski at (440)346-9623. You can call or text.
