Macedonia Planning Commission Approves Plans For Nordstrom Rack And Sephora

The Planning Commission approved a variety of site modifications on June 12 for Nordstrom Rack and Sephora, which will be in the Macedonia Gateway retail development on East Aurora Road.

Some of the issues which had been holding up approval for Nordstrom Rack included a height reduction on the west side of the building by 2 feet and the removal of an HVAC rooftop unit to a lower level to ensure that only the top is visible in certain sections.

Sephora complied with several issues which included color compliance and door alignments.

Nordstrom Rack will occupy a 28,082-square-foot section of retail space in the development. Sephora will occupy a 4,550-square-foot section.

The stores will join Burlington, T.J.Maxx, Best Buy, OfficeMax, and Petco according to development plans.

“We look forward to opening this new Nordstrom Rack,” Carl Jenkins, senior vice president of Nordstrom Rack Stores, said.

Macedonia Gateway is owned and managed by Cipriani Investments.

“We are thrilled Nordstrom Rack is coming to the Macedonia Gateway. This iconic retail brand will offer exciting new shopping energy for the community,” according to Michael Cipriani, President and CEO of Cipriani Investments.

The Planning Commission also approved a conditional zoning certificate for Cleveland Clinic Foundation to operate a building at 2055 Alexandria Way.

The former Maguire medical building was purchased by Cleveland Clinic in April.

A site plan for the 4,556-square-foot building, which sits on the 1.415-acre property, was required by the city code.

The site is zoned B-2 Community Shopping District.

The former Maguire building was originally approved for a conditional permit in 2016.

Cleveland Clinic will continue to operate a local family medicine practice at the location as Cleveland Clinic Family Medicine Nordonia Hills.

Planning Commission members requested additional information from developers on the requested modification to the drive-thru for Chick-Fil-A at the Crossings at Golden Link.

The next regularly scheduled meeting is July 17.
