Macedonia Police Reports Reveals Thefts, Harassment, and Arrests

THEFT/SHOPLIFTING

March 14 – Home Depot reported a theft by Joseph Chmura, who has been previously charged with multiple thefts from the store. At approximately 15:44 hours, Chmura parked a silver Honda CRV under the store’s apron, entered the store, and exited at approximately 15:47 hours without paying for miscellaneous tools valued at $1,457.10. The vehicle was later located on FLOCK cameras with no visible registration plate. Chmura was charged with F5 Theft, Driving Under Suspension, and No Operator License. Home Depot signed the complaint for the theft charge.

March 17 – Walmart employee Audra Stradford reported losing her wallet, likely left at the store’s fitting rooms during her break on the previous day. The wallet contained her Ohio Driver’s License, Social Security Card, four credit cards, $160.00 cash, and her son’s Social Security Card. She had already cancelled her credit cards with no reported unauthorized purchases.

March 17 – Officers responded to Shepard Road regarding stolen jewelry. Theresa reported that during an estate sale, a male identified as Timothy bought some jewelry for $225 cash, but she believed he took additional jewelry she hadn’t sold. Theresa, who has multiple sclerosis, mentioned experiencing “brain fog” during the sale and had difficulty remembering what she had sold. When contacted, Timothy “has been collecting items for the last thirty years and has never been accused of stealing.” He played a recording where Theresa could be heard saying “she did not think that Tim stole anything from them.” Timothy agreed to return the jewelry in exchange for a refund, and the officer advised Theresa “she should not be doing any transactions due to her medical conditions.”

March 19 – Officer found a suspicious Kia Soul at Planet Fitness on E. Aurora Road with a stripped ignition column. A caller reported seeing two subjects exit the car and enter another black sedan. A black Kia Sportage, confirmed stolen from Cleveland, was spotted nearby. When police attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, reaching speeds of 60 mph before crashing. Two 15-year-old juveniles were detained. The driver, Mylianna Rodriguez, admitted “she knew the vehicle was stolen” and “attempted to flee when the traffic stop was initiated because she was scared.” Inside the vehicle, officers found stolen license plates, screwdrivers, and a USB cord, “items commonly used in the theft of Kia brand vehicles.” Both teens were charged with multiple felonies.

MENTAL HEALTH/WELFARE CHECKS

March 17 – Officers responded to a welfare check at 6:22 hours for a female walking barefoot on SR 8 near GetGo. The female was located walking northbound on SR 8 S, under the overpass. She appeared confused and when asked where she was going said “to start over.” Officers transported her to Chilli’s parking lot where she was evaluated by Fire Department personnel. She was pink slipped and transported to Marymount Hospital. Her boyfriend and caregiver later reported she had walked out of their Knights Inn room while he was asleep.

March 18 – Officers responded to a report at 16:51 hours of a female on Deepwood Drive who wanted to harm herself with a gun. The female stated she had been having bipolar symptoms and was diagnosed with depression. She mentioned making suicidal statements after mistakenly believing she owed $30,000 in taxes, but no longer felt that way after learning it was a mistake. Officers secured her .25 caliber Raven Arms handgun with her consent for safekeeping until she addressed her mental health issues. She was advised to seek medical attention at Ahuja Hospital.

DOMESTIC INCIDENTS

March 17 – Officers responded to a domestic dispute at 19:04 hours on Crow Drive. Marcel Garrett, who has an outstanding warrant with the Macedonia Police Department, was arrested after officers discovered cannabis products during a search of his person.

March 24 – At 2216 hours, officers were dispatched to the Barks and Rec parking lot on Freeway Drive where several people were involved in an altercation. An officer witnessed Ca’Vaughn Caleb Kelley punch a female in the face with a closed fist. Kelley initially provided a false name and date of birth but was correctly identified and found to have an active felony warrant through Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. He was charged with Domestic Violence (M-1) and Falsification (M-1). The victim declined to pursue charges, but officers signed charges due to the witnessed assault.

PROPERTY DAMAGE/TRAFFIC INCIDENTS

March 17 – A caller reported witnessing a silver or blue SUV strike a stop sign at Valley View Road and Melody Lane at 10:18 hours. The driver, described as a female with blonde hair, then drove off toward East Aurora Road. Officers located the damaged sign at Valley View and Melody and temporarily secured it before contacting the service department for replacement.

March 19 – Officers discovered at 3:56 hours that Space Place Storage at 9165 S. Freeway Dr. had been broken into. Ten storage units (121, 120, 117, 113, 108, 107, 213, 216, 217, and 218) had locks cut off and appeared to have been quickly searched through. A portion of the fence near the northeast corner was cut and rolled back. All locks were collected for fingerprint and DNA analysis.

AGENCY ASSISTANCE

March 22 – Macedonia officers assisted Oakwood Village Police Department at 7:16 hours with identifying a male subject they had on a traffic stop at Circle K. Officers attempted to use a fingerprint scanner to identify the male who had given the name Kevin Gonzalez. The scanner returned no results through BCI or FBI.
