MACEDONIA, Ohio – The latest Macedonia police blotter features several unusual incidents, including a domestic dispute involving thrown bread, a shoplifting suspect in a suit jacket, and a wanted man who disappeared from a gas station while an officer ran his information. The reports also cover a DUI at Chili’s, a civil dispute over building blueprints, and a welfare check for an elderly resident found wandering in the cold.

Domestic Dispute Over Credit Card And Thrown Bread

On Dec. 26 around 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a home on Redwood Court for a domestic incident. Dispatch reported hearing two people arguing in the background before the call disconnected.

Upon arrival, officers separated a woman and her estranged husband, a Cleveland Heights resident. The woman claimed the man had taken her credit card and alleged he punched and shoved her. The man denied the physical assault but admitted to officers that a loaf of bread had been thrown during the argument.

The woman requested the man leave the residence. Officers advised the man to coordinate with police before returning for his belongings to ensure the situation remained civil. No charges were filed.

Shoplifter In Suit Jacket Apprehended Near Home Depot

On Dec. 28 around 8 p.m., Macedonia units were dispatched to Home Depot at Macedonia Commons for a shoplifting report. The suspect was described as a man in a suit jacket running across the parking lot.

An officer located the man, a Cleveland resident, who claimed he was only buying bleach and ran because a woman began chasing him. However, store staff informed police the man had paid for the bleach but stolen other merchandise valued at approximately $512.

The man eventually confessed to the theft and was taken into custody. He was charged with misdemeanor theft in Macedonia Mayor’s Court.

Wanted Man Flees GetGo During Flat Tire Assistance

On Dec. 24 at 11:05 p.m., an officer stopped to assist a disabled vehicle with a flat tire at the GetGo on East Highland Road. While the officer was in his cruiser running the identifications of the occupants, the male passenger walked into the store.

The records check revealed the man had a nationwide extradition warrant for robbery. By the time additional units arrived to secure the scene, the man had fled. A search involving a K-9 unit and a drone team was unsuccessful. Video footage showed the man walking east toward Route 8. The investigation remains open.

DUI Arrest Following Welfare Check At Chili’s

On Dec. 22 at 8:37 p.m., police received a report of a driver “slumped at the wheel” in the Chili’s parking lot at Macedonia Commons. A Northfield Village officer arrived first and found a Hudson woman in a silver Honda CR-V with the engine running.

Macedonia officers took over the scene and noted the woman had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. She admitted to drinking at the bar alone and told officers she would not pass sobriety tests. After struggling to maintain her balance while retrieving her phone, she was arrested.

At the jail, she provided a breath sample of 0.186 BAC. She was charged with physical control, driving under suspension, and operating without a valid license.

Elderly Resident With Dementia Found Wandering Near K-Guard

On Dec. 21 at 2:13 a.m., a Streetsboro man called police after spotting an elderly woman walking on Freeway Drive without a winter coat. He stayed with her in his car to keep her warm until officers arrived.

The woman, a Macedonia resident, was confused and believed she was looking for her missing infant son. She was transported to UH Ahuja for evaluation. Officers determined she was a resident of the memory care unit at Summit Corners on South Bedford Road.

Staff at the facility confirmed she had wandered out, noting a door alarm had been triggered at 1:46 a.m. but was reset by an aide who did not realize a resident had exited. The incident was documented for facility oversight.

Civil Dispute Over Building Blueprints And Keys

On Dec. 22, a Solon woman reported a civil matter involving a contractor she hired for her business on Alexandria Way. She stated the contractor, a Chagrin Falls resident, was refusing to return the building keys and blueprints.

The owner claimed the contractor was demanding more money without providing receipts. Police documented the dispute and advised the owner on the civil nature of the disagreement.

Found Wallet At Longwood Park

A Macedonia woman turned in a brown wallet to the police station on Dec. 21. She reported finding it at Longwood Park while viewing Christmas lights. The wallet, belonging to a Beachwood resident, was secured at the station, and a message was left for the owner.

Accidental Death Reported On Bruce Road

On Dec. 27, officers responded to a Bruce Road home where a man found his father unresponsive. The son, visiting from Florida, had to force entry into the home.

Officers found the elderly man deceased near a shattered glass coffee table. Evidence suggested the man, who had a history of heart and balance issues, likely fell while attempting to get up from the couch. No foul play was suspected, and the body was released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
