Macedonia Police Reports: Woman Barricades Self After Assault; Plus Employee Theft, OVI and Fatal Welfare Check – February 1-11, 2025

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASES:

Tahoe Drive Domestic Violence

Officers responded to Tahoe Drive where a woman had barricaded herself in an upstairs bathroom after an alleged assault. The suspect, who had been in the U.S. on a K1 Fiancée Visa from India, was accused of throwing his wife against a wall, slapping her face, and preventing her from calling 911 by taking and throwing her phone. The suspect then reportedly grabbed kitchen knives and threatened self-harm. The victim had visible injuries including a swollen mark on her face. The suspect was transported to Cleveland Clinic Twinsburg for a dislocated shoulder before being charged with Domestic Violence (M-1) and Disrupting Public Services (F-4).

E. Aurora Road Family Disturbance

What began as a disturbance call ended in an arrest after two separate police responses to E. Aurora Road. A woman was initially reported as intoxicated and yelling about her child. After officers calmed the situation, they were called back when the suspect allegedly attacked her juvenile sister over a cell phone dispute. The victim reported the suspect forced her way into a bathroom where she and her mother had taken refuge, threw items around the room, and kicked her in the stomach during a struggle on the stairs. The victim showed scratches on her face and hands. The suspect was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence (M1) through Stow Municipal Court.

THEFT CASES:

Walmart Employee Theft Investigation

A Walmart employee, Rayna Janiya Stevens, was arrested after loss prevention documented nine separate theft incidents between January 7 and February 4, 2025. The thefts totaled $200.45 in merchandise over a 30-day period. Stevens was charged with nine counts of M1 theft through Macedonia Mayor’s Court.

Walmart Self-Checkout Theft

Armani Jole Middlebrooks was charged with theft after allegedly attempting to “skip-scan” merchandise worth $9.80 at Walmart. Loss prevention observed the incident on video surveillance, and when confronted, Middlebrooks reportedly dropped the merchandise and left. She was later charged with Theft M-1 through Macedonia Mayor’s Court.

VEHICLE INCIDENTS:

Stolen Rental Truck Recovery

Officers intercepted a Penske rental truck reported stolen after a Flock camera notification. The driver, Ernest Eugene Clayton, and passenger Deandre Lavaun Jackson, claimed they were using the truck to help Jackson’s sister move. The truck was found to be overdue from Chicago Ridge and was towed at the request of Penske. No charges were filed as it was determined to be a civil matter.

Macedonia Commons Theater Parking Lot Stop Officers stopped a stolen truck in the B&B Theatres parking lot after receiving a Flock notification. The truck was confirmed stolen through NCIC by Chicago Ridge PD and was towed. The driver had a Michigan ID, and no charges were filed due to it being an overdue rental.

OVI ARRESTS:

E. Aurora Road OVI

Katrina Marie Wiesen was stopped for driving without headlights near 1008 E. Aurora Road. The driver showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking at local bars. After failing field sobriety tests, Wiesen provided a breath sample of 0.123 BAC. She was charged with OVI through Macedonia Mayor’s Court.

MEDICAL/WELFARE CHECKS:

Deceased Person Found

Officers conducting a welfare check discovered a resident deceased. The person had not been heard from in five days and was found to have been suffering from untreated colon cancer. The Summit County Coroner authorized release to Ferfolio Funeral Home as no foul play was suspected.

Blue Jay Trail Overdose Response

Officers responded a Blue Jay Trail residence for an overdose victim. The 19-year-old male was found unresponsive but breathing. Officers administered 4mg of Narcan, successfully reviving him. He was transported to Ahuja Medical Center for treatment.

GetGo Mental Health Response

Officers responded to GetGo #3299 for a potentially suicidal male in the parking lot. The individual was experiencing emotional distress over a breakup and requested help. EMS transported him to University Hospital Ahuja for evaluation.

PROPERTY DAMAGE:

Downed Light Pole

Officers responded to 1016 Whispering Woods regarding a fallen lamp post. Investigation revealed the pole had been leaning for several days before falling. Macedonia Service Department secured the area until repairs could be made the following day.

AGENCY ASSIST:

Northfield Village PD Assist Macedonia Police assisted Sagamore Hills PD with a female search at Northfield Village PD following an OVI and weapons offense arrest. An officer conducted the search with no contraband found.

ANIMAL INCIDENT:

Dog at Large/Medical Emergency Officers responded to Church of the Nazarene for a dog at large. During the incident, a neighbor was bitten while helping catch the dog, and the dog’s owner experienced a seizure requiring medical attention. The case was referred to Summit County Public Health for quarantine procedures.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
