Macedonia Recreation Center- What’s Happening? Volunteers Needed

Since Jason Chadock has started as parks and recreation director in Macedonia (also the Nordonia High School wide receiver coach), he has had a new dock put in at Longwood Park in July 2022, and a shed in August 2022.  That’s not all! Soon, residents will be able to peer out from the new dock, to take in the beauty of a new fountain going into the pond.

Jason says, “I’ve been here over two years now and we have had the ability to make improvements within the parks and the recreation center.  We have a great team that has been working with the community and working to deliver programs and services that our community can be proud of.  Since 2019, we have increased sports program participation by 43%.”

Recently Samantha Edgar, the special events and marketing coordinator, along with help from Jason- played an integral part in getting the Macedonia Fall Fest underway and running smoothly.  They had the Ohio State game featured on a big screen, lots of picnic tables, lit walkways through the park adjacent to the children’s playground and covered pavilions.  Three food trucks supplied some delicious grub to pair with the beer tastings, and some even sold out of the brisket and other favorite BBQ items.

A Haunted Hallows event will take place on Saturday October 15, from 2:30-5:00 pm as a walk-through trick or treat event next to the Manor house in Longwood Park.  It’s free for kids, and the Macedonia Rec Center is asking for participation from the community to help decorate scenes on the property!  If interested in volunteering, contact Samantha directly at 330-468-8376.
