TEAC’s Grant Application:
Mobile Food Pantry: Providing Healthy Food Options for Seniors and Veterans in NE Ohio
  • TEAC is a food pantry serving No Summit County Ohio for over 29 years.
  • A largely unreported issue for the under served in our area is the lack of either public or private transportation. Without transportation it can be a struggle to get fresh, healthy food to those most in need, especially area seniors and veterans.
  • With a mobile pantry we could bring our pantry to them.
  • Our vision is to have a mobile pantry with fresh produce, dairy, eggs, healthy snacks, and canned goods enabling us to go directly to high need areas such as low-income senior housing and VFW identified veterans in need.
  • Currently, TEAC provides limited services to these groups, but food is restricted due to not having truck to bring it to the high need areas.
  • Having a mobile food pantry opens-up healthy food options for some of the most vulnerable and is truly an unmet need in our community.
What the $25,000 grant will fund:
  • TEAC wants to purchase a gently used multi-use transit cargo van to be used as a mobile food panty
Benifit to TEAC
  • Will enable TEAC to deliver food more efficiently to target areas such as senior housing
  • Will enable TEAC to pick up heavy loads of food from the Akron-Canton Food Bank
  • Better serve the clients most in need in our area, by providing healthy food options
