More Time on Street, Less on Desk for Macedonia Police

Macedonia Police will be soon able to tweak their hierarchy to decrease administrative time for patrol offices and increase time spent on the streets.

Council voted to amend a section of the Codified Ordinances dealing with departmental structure.

“The goal is to remove the administrative duties from the patrol officers and patrol sergeants and give them the time to get back to patrolling instead of doing administrative tasks,” Police Chief Vince Yakopovich said during the regularly scheduled Council meeting.

The chief hopes to promote two additional lieutenants to help alleviate administrative duties which have fallen on patrol offices.

“We’ve had a plan to restructure the supervisors and administrative staff in the police department for a long time,” Yakopovich said. “I just feel now is the time to put that plan into action.”
