We have won the most votes ever cast for a presidential ticket in the history of this nation-74 million. I am humbled by the trust and the confidence you have placed in me.

2020 Presidential Acceptance Speech
On Saturday, November 7th, Americans gained a new President Elect. Joe Robinette Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. How did he get there? Throughout the entire election season, I have seen a plethora of Trump signs and listened to Ohioans bash Biden on his thoughts on how to handle the Coronavirus. Donald Trump won Ohio by over 8 percentage points. Only 7 Ohio counties voted blue this year. So, why did Americans in other states feel differently? He won the popular vote by an astounding 5 million votes. Everything boiled down to words , political outreach, and social media. Joe Biden’s political experience and phenomenal team secured the 279-214 electoral win. Here is how President Elect Joe Biden Snagged this historic win.
Words are without a doubt the number 1 reason why Donald Trump is no longer President. He condemned voting by mail; making false claims that voter fraud is a huge problem in our country, when in reality the chances of someone committing voter fraud are less than 1%. Trump attempted to abute Americans from voting by mail, while Joe Biden encouraged it. Mail in ballot voting is what earned Biden 20 electoral votes in Pennsylvania taking him from 259 to 279 electoral votes winning him the presidency. Voting by mail also won Biden Georgia flipping the state blue for the first time in 40 years. Along with encouraging mail in voting, Biden’s campaign focus was on more than just the economy. His campaign was centered on respect and helping others. The soon to be ex President contaminated his campaign by bad mouthing people in states, job sectors, and ethnic groups he needed to win the election. He spoke very ill words about John McCain, calling him a “sucker and a loser” for being captured during the Vietnam War for 5 ½ years. Joe Biden addressed Trump’s comments reintegrating that you do not disrespect the people who protect this country. These vile comments cost Donald Trump a win in Arizona, Senator McCain’s birthplace, a state that usually pads a republican win. These comments also cost him a vast majority of the military vote, which are usually counted after in person voting. Down playing the Coronavirus, that had taken over 300,000 American lives was another critical mistake. When Donald Trump contracted the coronavirus, he did not follow CDC guidelines and held multiple rallies afterward, brushing it off as if it were just a cold. That did go well by families whose lives have been—ruined by the virus. Many sufferings from the virus accused him of being too insensitive. Lastly, in the second presidential debate, when asked if he denounced white supremacy after receiving support from David Duke and other white supremacist leaders, the Republican candidate did the opposite by enforcing it, telling a well know racist group to incite violence if the election does not have the outcome he wants. These dangerous comments did not go over well with Georgia, flipping the red state blue for the first time in over 40 years. These types of comments have lost him republican support over the years. John Kasich, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and many others are beyond disgusted with what comes out of the Presidents mouth. Which takes us to political support. Without part approval your campaign is done for. Americans and just people in general believe the most liked person in the room.
Stacy Abrams, a Democratic politician in Georgia, was a front runner to be Joe Biden’s VP pick when he first announced he would choose a womam as his VP . This groundbreaking move made Stacy Ambrams a household name in Georgia and allowed her to have success in creating the New Georgia Project responsible for registering an estimated 800,000 Georgia residents to vote in the 2020 election and us responsible for the two Senate seat run-offs taking place in late January. She had raised an estimated 3.5 million dollars for the run-off campaigns. Barack Obama, a Democratic staple, campaigned for Biden for Biden in Pennsylvania and Michigan winning him both states. Donald Trump lacked the name recognition and support this time around. He is also making a stop in Georgia to help influence the Senate run-off race. Technology in the 2020 campaign has changed dramatically since the last election. In 2016, Russia was accused of interfering with the Presidential election. After countless accusations and probes, many platforms, many social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, have pledged to ban and or highlight false information to protect Americans from election interference and keep Americans safe overall. For example: the President’s tweet about Pennsylvania posted above was flagged by Twitter for spreading false information that may induce panic or incite violence
Many Americans flooded social media in anger and shared their disgust at the election results. Both Biden and Trump received a record-breaking amount of votes. No candidate in US history has received over 70 million votes, which both candidates managed to accomplish. President-Elect Biden attempted to alleviate our divided country with these words last Saturday:
”…To those who voted for President Trump, I understand your disappointment tonight. I’ve lost a couple of elections myself. But now let’s give each other a chance. It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric. To lower the temperature to see each other again. To listen to each other again, To make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy. We are not enemies; we are Americans.
…I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but to unify. Who doesn’t see red states and blue states, but a United States.
And who will work with all my heart to win the confidence of the whole people. For that is what America is about: the people. And that is what this administration will be about.”
So, what does Biden plan to do during his first days in office that Americans care about, specifically Ohioans? Most of us care about a peaceful transfer of power, eliminating the coronavirus, improving foreign relations, and boringness coming back to politics. The former President is making a peaceful transfer very hard by refusing to concede. He has multiple recounts and lawsuits going on, including a recount by hand in Georgia. By not conceding, the President has also blocked Joe Biden from getting messages from other countries and presidential briefings. The President-Elect did however get to choose Ron Klain as his Chief-of-Staff. Biden plans on making an executive order to make mask wearing a requirement in every state. To improve our current standing with the world, the Biden administration will rejoin the Paris Climate Accord, the World Health Organization(WHO), and reassure NATO we will not leave the organization. Standing on shaky ground on all three of these crucial organizations have hurt us badly with significant countries. Joe Biden has promised a drama-free administration. The American people have chosen the calmness of chaos. It is time for our country to come together. I will leave you with a few words from Biden’s acceptance speech.
