New Interim Superintendent ‘Wright’ For Job

The Board of Education named a longtime employee as interim superintendent.

Casey Wright, current district business manager and former Nordonia High School principal will take the reins as interim superintendent on October 1, according to an August 24 Facebook post from Board President Chad Lahrmer.

Wright will replace Dr. Joe Clark who will take over as Westerville superintendent on October 1.

Lahrmer made the announcement of the district’s annual convocation day.

“Pending contract negotiations between Mr. Wright and the Board, Mr. Wright will become interim superintendent of Nordonia Schools,” Lahrmer wrote. “Prior to becoming business manager, Mr. Wright worked at the high school as an assistant principal and then principal of the school. Mr. Wright has been with the district for about 15 years.”

Wright’s appointment will give the Board time to gather community input and conduct a full search to fill the superintendent position.

“I would like to thank Mr. Wright and look forward to his leadership of Nordonia Schools,” Lahrmer said.

Wright was excited to be named interim superintendent, he said via a telephone call to NordoniaHills.News.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Wright said. “Nordonia is a wonderful place.”

Wright has been with Nordonia Schools since 2007. He has been associate high school principal and high school principal.

“This next step is going to be a fulfillment of a dream of several years,” Wright added.

Wright would love to become a full-time superintendent, he said.

“I would love the opportunity to serve this community full-time as the superintendent,” Wright said. “But to be honest with you, I’m in love with the community and I’m willing to serve in any capacity. But certainly, I would love the opportunity to serve for a long period of time here in Nordonia.”

Wright called Nordonia an exceptional community and said it was the reason residents stayed for so long.

“This is a great place to be. This is a great place to work,” he said. “It’s really a testament to the community that people want to stay here for a long time.”

Wright’s appointment is pending a contract negotiation with the Board.

“I’m excited to work closely with our amazing staff, our parents our students of the Nordonia community,” Wright said. “It’s amazing, as we continue to work together, what we can accomplish and I’m ready for the challenge.”
