On September 15, 2022, NHS Knights ‘showed up’ and played hard at Perry’s home field, and conquered their first win! Knights have been working hard playing as a team, learning to jell together, and it paid off as they conquered their first soccer game win against a good quality team like Perry High School Panthers’.
Two goals were made by NHS junior Connell Rafferty, the first goal he won the ball in the Perry half and chipped the goal keeper from about 40 yards out. His second goal came from an outstanding cross from Senior Carter Saliga. Connell cut across the Perry defense to head the ball inside the short post.
According to Head Coach Kalman Steve Toth, “the unit has also been improving, with Juniors Matt Cluse, Ryan Kudla, and Sal LaGuardia, and Senior Kyle Dodson. The defensive midfielders are made up of Juniors Brett Rapp and Casey Edgehouse, whom are starting to jell supporting the back line and the attacking midfielders. The midfield is led by Junior Carter Saliga with Senior Austin Kocab, Sophomore John Wolf and Junior Alex Wilms. We also are getting outstanding minutes from upcoming players Tyler Fillips, Jackson Kanengeiser, and Riley Edgehouse. Finally, Jake Spangler had the best game I ever seen him have. His 13 saves kept us in the game. It was truly rewarding to see boys come up with a big win.”
