NHS Boys Varsity Volleyball Earns 7th Seed in State Tournament

Even though the Nordonia Boys Varsity Volleyball team lost to Stow-Monroe Falls High School Wednesday night 3-0, they are celebrating their 7th seed entry into this Tuesday night’s State Tournament. In their first year of playing, Nordonia has surprised the volleyball world with the most wins by a first year team, and finished in the Top 25 in Division 1 Boys Volleyball, and overall regular season record of 14-8.

The Boys have earned a 7th Seed in the State Tournament and will host Walsh at Nordonia on Tuesday May 9th at 6pm. Coach Rocco is ecstatically proud of the team and what they have accomplished together this season.

Congratulations goes to Juniors Brandon Matteo and Gianni Covelli for being named to the Honorable Mention Region 2 Team for the 2023 Season.

Gianni finished with 271 kills and finished 10th in Ohio in kills.

Brandon, who was also named Max Preps Player of the week by the State of Ohio, finished with 265 kills and 80 blocks, ranking him 4th in Ohio.

Congratulations also goes out to EJ Sopata, who is currently second in aces in Ohio with 76. He has also recorded over 250 kills. Setter Zac Fernandez finished fifth in Ohio with 643 assists. Junior Libero Connell Rafferty is 9th in Ohio in Digs with 246.

Come out and support our Knights as they host Walsh this Tuesday May 9th at Nordonia in Round 2 of the State Tournament.
