The intersection has various lane restrictions while crews widen the roadway. Work should wrap up in December.
SR 82 Bridge Repairs, Sagamore Hills Township
Part of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail under SR 82 remains closed through early November. Trail users should plan another route until work is finished.
I-480 Bridge Deck Replacement, Hudson and Twinsburg
I-480 eastbound and westbound over Stow Rd. have various lane restrictions. Stow Rd. under I-480 is closed through mid-November. The detour is Old Mill Rd. to Ravenna Rd. to Middleton Rd. Crews expect to finish in late November.
SR 176 Culvert Replacement, Richfield (New)
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 4, SR 176 just south of Boston Rd. will close through mid-November. The detour is SR 303 to SR 94 to SR 82.
SR 303 Culvert, Richfield Township
SR 303 just east of I-77 was scheduled to be closed through Saturday evening, Oct. 31. The posted detour was I-271 south to I-77 south to SR 176/Broadview Rd. to SR 303.
New Nightly Closures in Akron
Crews are installing a pedestrian bridge over I-77 in Akron. That work brings three new overnight closures this week.
Monday, Nov. 2 Through Wednesday Morning, Nov. 4
- The ramp from Archwood Ave. to I-77 north closes nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The detour is Coventry St. to SR 764/Wilbeth Ave. to I-77 north.
- The ramp from I-77 north to I-76 east and west closes nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The detour is SR 8 north to Carrol St. to SR 8 south to I-76 east and west.
Wednesday, Nov. 4 Through Saturday, Nov. 7
- I-77/SR 8 north at the Central Interchange closes nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The detour is I-76 east to Arlington St./Kelly Ave. to I-76 west.
Ongoing Interstate Projects
I-77 Noise Wall, Akron
I-77 northbound between Waterloo Rd. and Lovers Lane has occasional lane restrictions. Completion is expected in late fall.
I-77 Widening, Fairlawn and Bath Township
I-77 between Ghent Rd. and Everett Rd. is down to two lanes for striping. This work should finish in late fall.
I-277/U.S. 224 Bridge Deck, Akron and Coventry Township
The ramp from I-77 north to I-277/U.S. 224 west is down to one lane through mid-November. I-277/U.S. 224 over I-77 is reduced to one lane in each direction. That bridge work runs until June 2028.
State Route Projects
SR 8 Bridge Replacement, Akron
Good news for drivers: E. North St. under SR 8 is now open. All three lanes of SR 8 in both directions remain shifted onto the new southbound bridge. These ramps stay closed until late fall 2028:
- Perkins St. to SR 8 north. Detour: Perkins St. to Goodkirk St. to Buchtel Ave. to Fountain St. to SR 8 north.
- SR 8 north to Glenwood Ave. Detour: Tallmadge Ave. to Home Ave.
- SR 8 south to Buchtel Ave. Detour: SR 8 south to Perkins St. to Goodkirk St.
SR 91 Bridge Replacement, Munroe Falls
SR 91 between River Rd. and Munroe Falls Ave. is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour is SR 261 to SR 8 to SR 59. ODOT expects completion in mid-November.
SR 261 Resurfacing, Norton and Akron
SR 261 has lane restrictions between the Medina County line and Romig Rd. Restrictions also apply between I-77 and SR 59. Work should be done by mid-November.
