The Macedonia Police received a call about a theft in progress at a store. Upon their arrival the suspect was identified and was watched as he exited the store. As they approached the suspect they advised the suspect to put his hands behind his back which he complied. The suspect identified himself and said “I’m not going to run man, I’ll comply”.
Upon searching the suspect a pocket knife was found in his left coat pocket valued at $28.33. When asked about the item he stated “I was dumb”. While inside the loss prevention office the suspect stated that he was under the impression that if the item you stole was under $30.00 you would just get a ticket. The police officer indicated that it is not the case and that he was indeed under arrest. The suspect was found to have $333.00 of cash in his wallet. They asked him why he stole the pocket knife when he had the cash and he stated he was “just stupid”.
While inside the loss prevention office they asked him if he had any other items concealed on his person before they left for the jail. The suspect indicated he had no further contraband on his person.
Upon arriving at the Macedonia City Jail, the suspect was asked again if he had anything on his person and he stated no. While being book the Correction Officer found a Suboxone strip within his wallet. When asked about this item the suspect stated “If I have to buy Suboxone off the street to stay off of drugs then he would”. The suspect was aware of this item and was hoping the officer would not find them.
