Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone! Welcome to a quick update on the Nordonia boys basketball team.
This week, the Nordonia Knights only had one game, but it was a memorable one. Just three days after Christmas, on December 28, 2024, they traveled to face the Berea-Midpark Titans. It turned out to be a great end to the year 2023 for the Knights, as they clinched a victory with a score of 79-72. This victory was a good bounce given the Nordonia Boys knight were battling two defeats before this match.
There were two players for Nordonia who stood out in game #4. The Knights won, thanks in large part to the work of juniors CJ Caffey and Jason Janosek. Janosek was especially impressive; he scored an amazing 25 points.
Caffey also made a big difference with 18 points, and Jordan Byrd also made a big difference with 16 points. This teamwork was very important to Nordonia’s success, especially in the fourth quarter, when they beat Berea-Midpark 24-10, a run that sealed their win.
Reid Braaten, a freshman for Berea-Midpark, was named the man of the match for his team. Braaten got 18 points, showing how good he is and how much he can grow as a player. Also, Tyson Clay played well and scored 17 points. However, this defeat broke Berea-Midpark’s seven-game winning streak at home, bringing their record to 5-2.
This win was particularly special, as it was the highest score they’ve achieved this season.
With this victory, Nordonia’s season record improved to 4-5. So, stay tuned for more exciting basketball action as these teams continue their journey through the season!
