The Nordonia Girls Golf Team continued their strong start to the 2021
season with their best score ever at the Hoover Midwest Classic at
Skyland Pines Golf Course on August 14th. Their 360 was 21 strokes
better than last year and put them in 6th place out of 20 teams.
Christina Nagy led the team with an 88 followed by Julia Gulla-90,
Larisa Golembiewski and Brooke Barnes-91 and Kenadie Trehan-95.
The team then followed this with a perfect 3 – 0 start to their match
play schedule. They started this 3-win stretch off on August 17th at
Brookledge Golf Course with a score of 165 to beat both Stow-Monroe
Falls 175 and Cuyahoga Falls 202. Christina Nagy led the team again with
a 40 followed by Larisa Golembiewski and Julia Gulla-41, Brooke
Barnes-43, Maci Taylor-45 and Kenadie Trehan-46.
Then on an overcast raining August 18th morning at Ellsworth Meadows
Golf Course, the team added their third win with a 170-206 win over
North Royalton. This time Christina Nagy led the team with a personal
best even par round of 36, followed by Larisa Golembiewski’s solid 41,
Brooke Barnes-46, Julia Gulla-47, Kenadie Trehan-51 and Maci Taylor-52.
The JV team coached by Kristi Gunyula continued their season with a good
6th place finish out of 10 teams at the Lexington JV Invitational on
August 13th at The Woods Golf Course in Mansfield. The team score was
446 with Makayla Jethrow leading the team with a 107 followed by Maci
Taylor-109, Lauren Torain-111, Kolbey Lewin-119, Cammie Becker-133 and
Emma Selbee-148. The JV’s next event is a match with Medina on August
18th at Medina Country Club.
The Varsity will continue their play with the 22 team Independence Blue
Devil Invitational at Shawnee Golf Course on August 21st. Then the
following week they have two matches with a strong Aurora team on August
23rd away at Tanglewood Golf Course and the 25th home at Ellsworth
Meadows Golf Course. In between these two matches on August 24th, the
Varsity has the first Suburban League Tournament on August 24th.
