Village of Northfield Councilperson Renell Noack started looking into the Nordonia Hero Veteran Banner program about a year ago. Mayor Jesse Nehez had asked Renell to check out the banners in Independence. And as Renell put it: “I was hooked right there!”

People purchased banners for their family or loved ones. They are now all on display on Rt. 8 from Peppers to Mr. Chicken. Each banner honors a specific service person with Nordonia area ties and includes their name, branch of service, and photo. The 25 banners were printed at Kimpton Printing in Macedonia and are double-sided in color and measure 36” wide x 78” high.  The plan is to leave them up until Veterans Day November 11.

Mayor Nehez said “Renell spent a lot of time on this project and did a fantastic job. I am proud of how they turned out.” Renell was the perfect person to work on this project because she is a veteran and always been very active in veteran programs. Her banner is displayed at the top of this article with her Dad John Rudin.

Her late husband Leonard Noack Jr.’s banner is also displayed (see below) along with Jason Walters who is the Village of Northfield’s Service Department Superintendent. Also displayed below is Renell’s sister Renee Bishop and Village of Northfield Councilperson Gary Vojtush’s late father John Vojtush Sr.

New applications will need to be filed if you wish for the banners to be displayed during the 2021 and subsequent seasons. It will be your responsibility to contact the Village of Northfield prior to March 31st of each year in order to renew your order for that year. The price for orders and renewal orders for subsequent years has not yet been determined.
