Nordonia High School Teacher Death

From the Superintendent of Nordonia Hills City Schools,

Dear Nordonia Families,

It is with deep regret that I inform you about a recent loss to our school community. On Saturday, 11/26/2022, Mr. John O’Brien died following a long battle with cancer. Mr. O’Brien was part of our Nordonia High School faculty as a respected Science teacher for 25 years.  This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students.

Our school has a Crisis Intervention Team made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students, parents, and school personnel at difficult times such as this. At our school, we have counselors available for any student who may need or want help or any type of assistance surrounding this loss. We encourage you, as parents, to also feel free to use our resources.

We have attached some information that may be useful to you in helping your child at home. If you would like additional information or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Crisis Team Coordinator, Zach Miley, at zachary.miley@nordoniaschools.org or 330-908-6171.

We are saddened by the loss to our school community, and send our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Ellen, and the entire O’Brien family.  We will make every effort to help you and your child as you need.

Sincerely,

Joe Clark, Ph.D.

Superintendent
