Story Times
Baby Time
Thursdays, 10:15 am, March 31-May 5,
For children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Our programs feature bounces, songs, and stories.

Toddler Story Time
Thursdays, 11:15 am, March 31-May 5
For children 2-3 years old, with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Short stories, rhymes, and more!

Preschool Story Time
Thursday, 12:30 pm, March 31-May 5
For children 3-5 years old, not yet in Kindergarten. Stories, rhymes, and more!

Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the April challenge, write and draw about spring!

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who studied at the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Attend one class or the whole series, and please dress in comfortable clothing. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Wednesdays, April 6, May 18, & 25, 6:30 p.m.

What The Beatles Taught Us About Growing a Business
Marketing professional and musician Rick Iacoboni presents the seven business lessons that made the Fab Four the most successful band of all time. Includes a live music performance. Registration is suggested. Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m.

Once Upon A Time
Students from  Nordonia Hills High School’s production of Cinderella will read some fairy tales. We will also make a craft and enjoy some refreshments. Don’t forget to get your picture taken with Cinderella, Prince Charming, and possibly other characters. Friday, April 8 at 4 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Defensive Wounds by Lisa Black on Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, April 11, we will read Timmy Failure: Now Look What You’ve Done by Stephen Pastis.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, April 12, 6-8 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe returns to Wednesdays in 2016 starting on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, April 14 at 2 p.m. We will discuss The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty.

Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Cleveland-Akron Connection
Author Deanna Adams discusses the history of rock n’ roll music in northeast Ohio, from the first documented rock concert in 1952, to the Cleveland record spinners that “got the rock rollin’,” to stories about the clubs, bands and musicians from the heyday of the ’60s through the ’90s. Much focus will be on the Akron/Canton/Kent area. Registration is suggested. Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Family Night
Join our crafts program for families of all ages! Monday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. – Create a bouquet of spring flowers for your table.

Date Night After Dusk: Learn Party Games with The Malted Meeple
Game experts from The Malted Meeple teach / demonstrate some fun games for couples or groups, great for your next party or get-together. From new offerings to edgier fare, meet some new friends and enjoy a social evening out. Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m.

After School Club
After School Club is one Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. for children in Kindergarten – 4th grade. On Wednesday, April 20 make a craft for Cinco De Mayo.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 20.

Effective Communication in Parenting: Taking Care of Conflict Before It Starts
Do you feel tuned out? Kids not listening to you? Feeling all alone in your parenting journey? Losing your patience? These feelings can happen with preschoolers to adult children – learn how to effectively communicate and take care of conflict before it starts. Wednesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m.

I Miss Talking to You: A Caregiver’s Journey About Dementia
Author Dr. Constance Longmire discusses her recent book, focusing on the challenges and rewards in caregiving a family member with dementia. Registration is suggested. Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m.

5th & 6th Grade Book Club

Receiving Medicare benefits but don’t quite understand the system? This presentation guides you through the maze, answers your questions, and explains options regarding Medicare benefits. Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our next discussion title will be Killing Lincoln by Bill O’Reilly on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m.

Cleveland TV Tales, Volume 2
Authors Mike and Jan Olszewski return to discuss stories of legendary and notable Cleveland television from their latest book. Listen to tales of Super Host, The Morning Exchange, and the many characters on local newscasts, plus much more. They will also bring clips of famous TV moments. Registration is suggested. Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m.

Life Stage Transitions: Moving From One Stage to Another
Are you thinking about marriage? Graduating soon? What’s your next career step? Is the empty nest stage quickly approaching?  Do your parents need more assistance from you? These are all major transitions as we move from one stage of life to another.  Come and receive guidance on how to weather transitions more smoothly and see that you are not alone in these life changes. DIY Terrariums
Make your own terrarium with our step by step guided instruction, and add some green to your life! Materials provided, but participants may bring their own plants and embellishments if they wish. 16 and over, please. Registration is strongly encouraged, as this program is limited to twenty participants. Wednesday, May 4, 6:30 p.m.

Meet the Author: Marty Gitlin
Marty Gitlin discusses writing and some of his more than 50 published titles, including THE GREATEST SITCOMS OF ALL TIME. Mr. Gitlin’s work includes sports, food, history, and pop culture. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, May 5, 7 p.m.
