All ages are invited to join us to celebrate the library’s 150th birthday and to kick off summer reading with live performances, yummy treats, and more. Free Kona Ice treats will be available while supplies last.

Mystery lovers book club 

Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. 

Join us to discuss a good mystery. Copies of each title will be available at the Nordonia Hills Branch Library one month prior to the discussion. Please register.

Get Tech Help 

June 11, 10am-5pm 

These sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. First-come, first-served. No registration required. Stop by to get technical help from a Technology Trainer at the Nordonia Hills Branch. No registration is required.  Assistance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Adult Discussion and Philosophical Exploration

A regular gathering of adults engaging in great conversation, exploring current events, thoughtful ideas, and reasoned debates. Take part, or just listen to the discussion! No registration necessary – No homework – No assigned reading. For adults.

Nordonia Hills Game Time – Board Games for Everyone

Play games including chess, board and Euro games, role-playing games, mah-jongg, and regular and trading card games. All ages welcome. 

 

Writer’s Guild of Nordonia Hills Writing group for aspiring writers 

 June 19, July 17, August 21, 6:30 pm   

Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome, fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample  

of your work to share. 

 

Intro to Rain Barrels

Story time features stories, rhymes, music, sometimes flannels, and bubbles followed by a playtime.

Paws for Reading

Mondays, June 24, July 22, August 26, 6:30 p.m. 

Read a book to a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a terrific way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Register online, by phone, or in person

Summer Reading Fun  

Tuesdays at 2 pm  

Tuesdays June 11-July 23, at 2 pm, join us as we laugh, learn, and have some fun.   

Seating limited. Tickets are available, first come first serve, 30 minutes prior to the program.  

June 11– Lindsay Bonilla -Come get involved in a wonderful storytelling from a local author.  

June 18- Alans Magic-Watch Jason and Stacy as they share their special brand of magic  

June 25-Outback Ray- Enjoy a hands-on event for kids of all ages. See captive-born exotic animals up close and personal  

July 2- Bingo!   

July 9- Art Sparks- Put your dancing shoes on and be ready to “dance to the music”    

July 16- Akron Zoo-Don’t miss out when the ZooMobile stops by the library with some of our zoo friends   

July 23-Jen O’Herrron Hang out and learn about some scaled creatures from “A Girl with Scales 

 

Thrilling Thursdays  

Thursday, 4 pm  

Join us after school at 4 pm for some fun activities. 

June 20-Build your own adventure with Legos.  

July 25- Hex Bugs-Design a maze with different pathways and obstacles out of various materials and then use the hex bugs to see how they respond. 

August 22- Paper Circuits-Learn the basics of circuits and make your artwork light up.      

 

Messy Monday 

Join us for some messy fun at 6:15pm. Remember to wear some old clothes, you may get messy.Register online, by phone, or in person. 

May 20- Bottle Flower Art-Make a bottle flower art piece using lid caps, plastic bottle, and piper cleaners. Decorate it with paint, duct tape, etc. 

June 17-Cotton balls throw painting 

August 19-Balloon painting

Dungeons and Dragons 

Second & Fourth Mondays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, June 10 & 24, July 8 & 22   

Join our quest at your own peril! Bring your dice and your tankard. Snacks provided. For more information, please ask Mistress Sue. 

  

Teen Café   

Join us every Wednesday at 2 pm during June and July. Each time, we’ll try something new – maybe a craft, a recipe, or a newfound skill.    

June 5 – Help start a painted rock garden for the library.
June 12 – Create a flying butterfly card to amaze and delight family and friends.
June 19 – Make peanut butter cups as good as Reese’s.
June 26 – Create a clay chia pet and let it grow.
July 3 – Compete in the 12th Annual Paper Airplane Contest and Win Fantastic Prizes!
July 10 – Twist and Shout! We’re making twisted candles.
July 17 –Bubble science and art.
July 24 – Join Miss Sue for Pizza and Games. 

 

Teen Lit Loot 

Grades 6-12 are invited to register for our book box service: Lit Loot! Each box will contain two books and an assortment of goodies. Register in person, or by phone at 330-467-8595.
