Holiday Toy Drive
Through December 7. In partnership with The Emergency Assistance Center of Northfield, the Library is hosting a holiday toy drive. Brand new toys still in the original packaging and gifts for teenagers (such as spirit wear, socks, lotion, etc.) are requested. Drop off donations in the Library lobby.
Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, December 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nordonia Hills Branch Library Holiday Open House
Join us for a family holiday open house. We’ll have a make-and-take craft, festive face painting, refreshments and a special musical performance by Rushwood Elementary students at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 1-4 p.m.
Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss 12 Days of Christmas by Debbie Macomber on Monday, December 9 at 2 p.m.
Family Night
Family of all ages join together for some great crafts. One Monday a month at 6 p.m. Monday, December 9 – Bring your little fingers and make a fingerprint ornament to remember how small they once were.
Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, December 10, 6-8 p.m.
The Best Cartoons of World War II
“The Best Cartoons of World War II” tells the story of World War II with the best cartoons from 1934-1945. The art work and the history behind each cartoon make for a fascinating presentation on the history of the war. Tuesday, December 10, 6:30 p.m.
Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 18.
Saxophonist Chris Coles’ Gleam Quintet
Chris Coles’ Gleam quintet is a group that turns all the rules of genre on its head. Each member of the group brings their own unique life experiences and musical influences to create an exciting sound that is accessible to all audiences, mature and young alike. Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, December 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. Messy Monday
Join us for some messy fun, one Monday a month at 6 p.m. Remember to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. We will bubble wrap mosaic painting on Monday, December 30 at 6 p.m.
Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is required. Tuesdays, January 7, 14, 28, 6:30 p.m.
After School Program
Grades K-5 can join us one Wednesday of the month after school at 4 pm for some fun activities. On Wednesday, January 8 at 4 p.m., we will make a winter skier.
Teens Do Something
Need volunteer hours? Join us Saturday, January 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decorations, cleaning shelves, and making toys for Akron Children’s Hospital. Contact Miss Sue with any questions.
