Mystery Book Discussion

The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be on The Woman in the Water by Charles Finch on Wednesday, February 26, 6:30 p.m.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of Nordonia Hills Branch Library will hold their Spring Book Sale Friday, March 6, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $4 bag sale begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The preview sale for Friends members is Friday, March 6, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Memberships starting at $5.00 may be purchased at the door. You must be a member to attend.

Northfield Elementary: One School, One Book

March 6 – March 28. One School, One Book is a program that promotes literacy by having families, schools, and communities read the same book at the same time. The book selection is a secret until the kick-off assembly at the beginning of March. We will be hosting some activities that relate to the 2020 book. Students will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize for participating in the library activities. Winners will be announced at the One School One Book closing assembly.

March 6 – March 14 – Craft at coloring table.

Saturday, March 14, 3 p.m. – Enjoy a snack and a drink while you listen to a reading of a chapter of this year’s book.

March 16-March 21 – Activity at coloring table.

March 23-March 31 – Activity at coloring table.

Monday Casual Reads

Join us the second Monday of each month for book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss The Whole Town’s Talking by Fannie Flagg on Monday, March 9 at 2 p.m.

Dungeons and Dragons

We are gathering Monday, March 9, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our quest at your own peril! For more information, please ask Mistress Sue.

A Book and a Brand – Writing Workshop

What happens after the book is published? Great question! In “A Book & A Brand” workshop, we will share how to create a brand that people will remember. As TKI Publishing shares insight and wisdom from their own experience, they will provide practical tools to help you develop a strong brand from your book to increase your marketing ability. Tuesday, March 10, 6 p.m.

Stitch Clique

Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Tuesday, March 10, 6 p.m.

Paws for Reading

Read a book to Edmund, certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m.

After School Program

Grades K-5 can join us one Wednesday of the month after school at 4 pm for some fun activities. On Wednesday, March l1 at 4 p.m., make a top spinner using cd’s.

Socrates Café

Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion

Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, March 12 at 2 p.m. to discuss The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo.

Paper Marbling

Marbling is the mesmerizing art of transferring patterns of paint floating on water to paper, fabric, or another surface. Learn about this colorful art form and try your hand at marbling yourself with Akron artist and paper marbler Claire Marks. Seats are limited. Please register online, by phone or in person, starting February 12. Thursday, March 12, 6 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner

Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, March 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Family Night

Family of all ages come together for some great crafts. One Monday a month at 6 p.m. Monday, March 16, create a family of bead people.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills

Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 18.

Parachute Play

We will use music and movement to play parachute games. Toddler parachute play is for ages 2-5. Thursday, March 19, 11 a.m.

Dr. Seuss Party!

This year the Nordonia High School’s Drama club is doing Seussical for their spring musical. Characters from Nordonia High School’s Drama Club production of Seussical will read some stories as we do some crafts, enjoy some refreshments, and more. Friday, March 20, 4:30 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time

Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

It’s never too late to engage your curious and creative side. Learn, create and explore, with a different topic each month. Tuesday, March 24, 12 p.m.: Ohio’s Wild Critters with Summit Metro Parks. Learn more about our furry friends in Summit County, from Summit Metro Parks Naturalist Joe Malmisur.

Teens Do Something

Need volunteer hours? Join us Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decorations, cleaning shelves, and making toys for Akron Children’s Hospital. Contact Miss Sue with any questions.

Science Saturday: Experimental Play

Join us for great hands on STEAM fun see what new “toys” have been added! Saturday, March 28, 2:30 p.m.

Messy Monday

Join us for some messy fun, one Monday a month at 6 p.m. Remember to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. We will make crepe paper canvas art on Monday, March 30 at 6 p.m.
