Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the February project, share your own list of 10 Things You Love!

After School Club
For children in K-4th grade. Wednesday, February 8, 4 p.m. – we will create some crayon lip gloss.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, February 9 at 2 p.m. We will discuss The Eleventh Man by Ivan Doig.

Science Saturday
Do you like to see how things work? Are you a hands-on type of kid? This program is for you! Children school age and up bring moms, dads, and the whole family. Saturday, February 11, 2:30 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford, on Monday, February 13 at 2 p.m.

Messy Mondays
Join us for messy fun! Don’t forget to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. On Monday, February 13, 6 p.m. we will have some fun making crafty winter bird feeders.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, February 14, 6-8 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 15.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up is Saturday, February 18 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Medicare 101
Viktoria Jurkovic with the Ohio Department of Insurance’s OSHIIP division will provide an overview of Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare supplement insurance. Whether you are new or currently on Medicare, attendees can learn more about recent Medicare plan changes and financial assistance programs, which may help pay prescription drug costs and Part B premiums. Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program representatives are trained by the state, and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies, or agents. Tuesday, February 21, 6 p.m.

Mini Teen Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m. we will get together and create with a different medium. On Tuesday, February 21, learn some knots, try some weaving, or others things to make with yarn.

DIY Water Marbling with Nail Polish
Create your own marbled masterpieces on a variety of surfaces with nail polish and water. All supplies provided. This class is limited to fifteen participants, and attendance is first come, first seated. Wednesday, February 22, 6:30 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of a Maggie King mystery on Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we’ll get together for some great crafts. Monday, February 27 – We are going to make and launch our straw rockets!

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, February 28, 6 p.m.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of Nordonia Hills Branch Library will hold their Spring Book Sale Friday, March 3, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $4.00 bag sale begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The preview sale for Friends members is Friday, March 3, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Memberships starting at $5.00 may be purchased at the door. You must be a member to attend.
The library is now accepting donations of gently used hardback and paperback books, video and audio recordings, and puzzles. No magazines, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, textbooks, or encyclopedias are accepted.

Tai-Chi: Moving for Better Balance
Kim Mozzochi with the Area Agency on Aging conducts this FREE exercise series, geared toward older adults wanting to improve strength, flexibility and muscle tone. The sessions meet twice per week for a 12-week period. Registration is strongly encouraged, as space is limited. This series may be cancelled due to low attendance. Mondays and Tuesdays, March 6 – May 23, 10:30 a.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, March 6, we will read Little Horse by Betsy Byers.

Cooking Club
A new interactive group for discussing all things cooking, comparing recipes, and trying new eats. First Tuesday of each month. Tuesday, March 7, 6 p.m.

Not Dead Yet: Author Talk with Don Rambacher
Local author Don Rambacher talks about his new book, Not Dead Yet: A Collection of Close Calls & Other Memories, a humorous memoir of the author’s journey growing up in Salem, Ohio. Rambacher will make you laugh with stories of adventures, mishaps and many trips to the hospital. The book will be available for purchase and signing after the talk. Tuesday, March 7, 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And don’t forget we’ll have cookies! Wednesday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
