The Library will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31 and will be closed Wednesday, January 1.
Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, January 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dungeons and Dragons
We are gathering Monday, January 6 and Tuesday January 21, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our quest at your own peril! For more information, please ask Mistress Sue.
After School Program
Grades K-5 can join us one Wednesday of the month after school at 4 pm for some fun activities. On Wednesday, January 8 at 4 p.m., we will make a winter skier.
Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.
Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion

Teens Do Something
Need volunteer hours? Join us Saturday, January 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decorations, cleaning shelves, and making toys for Akron Children’s Hospital. Contact Miss Sue with any questions.
Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich on Monday, January 13 at 2 p.m.
Family Night
Family of all ages join together for some great crafts. One Monday a month at 6 p.m. Monday, January 13, we are creating flip drums.
Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, January 14, 6-8 p.m.
Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, January 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 15.
Parachute Play
We will use music and movement to play parachute games. Toddler parachute play is for ages 2-5. Thursday, January 16, 11 a.m.
Teens Create
Learn new art forms from artists in different fields. This program is for students in grades 5 -12 only. Please register. On Thursday, January 16 at 3:30 p.m., try felting with Sue Huston.
What Happens After the Paychecks Stop? A Retirement Income Primer
We’ll examine how to budget for retirement expenses and explore potential sources of retirement income. We’ll also identify risks to retirement income and ways to address them. Thursday, January 16, 6 p.m.
Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, January 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. Books You Might Have Missed 2019: Friends Annual Meeting
Join the Friends of the Nordonia Hills Branch for their annual meeting and a presentation by Adam Sockel. Adam is one half of the popular Professional Book Nerds podcast, presented by Overdrive. Readers and librarians turn to the PBN team for weekly expert book recommendations, author interviews and all things book-related. Mystery Book Discussion

Baby Time
Baby Time features books, bounces, songs, and bubbles, followed by a playtime. Baby Time is for children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Thursdays, January 23-February 20, 10:15 a.m.

Story time features stories, rhymes, music, sometimes flannels, and bubbles followed by a playtime. Story Time is for children ages 2- 5 with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent, or caregiver. Thursdays, January 23-February 20, 11:30 a.m.
Build it!
Whether you build by yourself or with a friend, use your imagination to build something with blocks or Legos. Friday, January 24, 4 p.m.
Messy Monday
Join us for some messy fun, one Monday a month at 6 p.m. Remember to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. We will do blow painting on Monday, January 27 at 6 p.m.
Outsmart the Scammers
Incidents of fraud are on the rise and scammers’ tactics are becoming more complex. This presentation will help provide the information needed to outsmart the scammers. We’ll discuss how to spot certain red flags that may indicate a fraudulent encounter, resources to turn to in the event you or your loved ones are targeted and steps you can take now to help protect yourself and your loved ones. Wednesday, January 29, 6 p.m.
