Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For January fill out the New Year’s “Resolutions for Kids” questions.

Storytimes
Baby Time
Thursdays, 10:15 am, January 14-February 25
For children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Our programs feature bounces, songs, and stories.

Toddler Story Time
Thursdays, 11:15 am, January 14-February 25
For children 2-3 years old, with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Short stories, rhymes, and more!

Preschool Story Time
Thursdays, 12:30 pm, January 14-February 25
For children 3-5 years old, not yet in Kindergarten. Stories, rhymes, and more!

Bedtime Story Time (for families)
Tuesdays, 6:30 pm, January 26 and February 23

SmashCraft: Tournament and Retro Gaming
Gamers unite! Join your fellow gamers for a Super Smash Brothers Wii U tournament with prizes on Saturday, January 23 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If tournament play isn’t your thing, check out the Minecraft corner and retro gaming with classics from the Nintendo 64. All ages and walk-ins welcome, but pre-registration for the tournament is strongly suggested.

5th & 6th Grade Book Club
One Monday each month at 6:30 p.m., we will meet to talk about this month’s book over a drink and a snack. Monday, January 25 – The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman.

After School Club
After School Club is one Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. for children in Kindergarten – 4th grade. On Wednesday, January 27, make an airplane craft.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our next discussion title will be Homicide in Hardcover, by Kate Carlisle on Wednesday, January 27 at 7 p.m.

Teen Cafe
For students in grade 5 and up. One Wednesday a month at 4 p.m.  Please register for each date. Wednesday, February 3 – Take the challenge!  Help us decide whose Valentine’s Day chocolates are the best.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, February 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes on Monday, February 8 at 2 p.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m. We will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, February 8, we will read The Dragon in the Sock Drawer by Kate Kilmo.

Family Night
Join our crafts program for families of all ages!  Monday, February 8 at 6:30 p.m. – You are invited to celebrate The Chinese Year of the Monkey.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, February 9, 6-8 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe returns to Wednesdays in 2016 starting on Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, February 11 at 2 p.m. We will discuss The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.

2016 Medicare Updates
Do you need accurate, unbiased information about Medicare? Viktoria Jurkovic with the Ohio Department of Insurance’s OSHIIP division will review important 2016 changes regarding Medicare Part D plans and Medicare Advantage Plans, as well as provide an overview of Medicare Part A and Part B benefits on Tuesday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program representatives are trained by the state, and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies, or agents.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, February 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Great Lakes Theater Play
We welcome the acclaimed theater troupe back to Nordonia Hills for a sixteenth year as they present a world premiere play written by David Hansen and directed by Lisa Ortenzi: THE SECRET ADVERSARY: A TOMMY & TUPPENCE ADVENTURE, based on the novel by Agatha Christie. Seating is first come-first seated. No registration will be taken. Thursday, February 25, at 7 p.m.
