Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the February project, try your hand at a crossword!

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, February 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. We will make a winter tree finger painting on Monday, February 5, 6 p.m.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Wednesdays, February 7 & 21, 6:30 p.m.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, February 8 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance.

Build It
Whether you build by yourself or with a friend, use your imagination to build something with blocks or Legos. Friday, February 9, 4 p.m.

Teens Do Something
Need volunteer hours? Join us one Saturday a month from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and drop in at any time. The next meeting will be on Saturday, February 10. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decorations, creating busy bags for Akron Children’s Hospital, and cleaning library books and shelves. Any questions please ask Miss Sue.

Science Saturday
Join us for great hands on STEAM fun! Children, school age and up, bring your moms, dads, and the whole family. Saturday, February 10, 2:30 pm

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Gone Missing, by Linda Castillo, on Monday, February 12 at 2 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, February 12, we are going to make a valentine surprise.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, February 13, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, February 13, 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, February 14 at 3:30 p.m.

After School Club
On Wednesday, February 14 at 4 p.m., make popsicle stick love birds.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, February 14 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, February 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 21.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be The Ex by Alafair Burke on Wednesday, February 24 at 7 p.m.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, February 27, 6 p.m.

Teen Mini Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m., we will get together and create using a different medium each time. On Tuesday, February 27, make some custom coasters using decoupage.

2018 Medicare Updates and Overview
Viktoria Jurkovic with the Ohio Department of Insurance’s OSHIIP division will provide an overview of Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare supplement insurance. Whether you are new or currently on Medicare, attendees can learn more about recent Medicare plan changes and updates for the new year. Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program representatives are trained by the state, and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies, or agents. Wednesday, February 28, 6 p.m.

Adults with Aging Parent Drivers seminar
A one-hour presentation is designed for family members and caregivers of senior drivers concerned about a loved one’s ability to drive safely as a result of the natural aging process. We will discuss many of the legal, ethical, and emotional challenges faced by a family or caregiver when considering a loved one’s retirement from driving. Registration suggested. Thursday, March 1, 7 p.m.
