Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the March project, try our Animal Sound Word Search!

Earrings Class
Looking for earrings to compliment that special outfit? Come make them! In this class you will learn to use the proper tools and techniques to create a pair of earrings. Come a few minutes early to pick out your beads. This class is limited to twenty participants, so registration is strongly suggested. Wednesday, March 21, 6 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 21.

Magic With The Alans
Jason and Stacy Alan bring their unique high energy show to Nordonia Hills, jam-packed from start to finish with powerful magic, hilarious audience interaction, and memorable moments. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m.

Teens Do Something
Need volunteer hours? Join us one Saturday a month from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and drop in at any time. The next meeting will be on Saturday, March 24. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decorations, creating busy bags for Akron Children’s Hospital, and cleaning library books and shelves. Any questions please ask Miss Sue.

Teen Mini Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m., we will get together and create using a different medium each time. On Tuesday, March 26, try origami with candy wrappers – the best part is that you get to eat the candy!

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, March 27, 6 p.m.

College Funding Workshop
The cost of a college education has skyrocketed and, as a result, many parents feel completely overwhelmed, with little to no guidance on how they can minimize the cost of college. College Funding Educators of America was formed to provide comprehensive education to parents so that they can maximize financial aid and understand various college funding strategies that will help reduce their family’s out-of-pocket expenses. Tuesdays, March 27 and April 24, 6 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of Ian Rankin mystery on Wednesday, March 28 at 7 p.m.

Chardon Polka Band Concert
The Chardon Polka Band adds a colorful twist and new life to the polka, playing both traditional pieces as well as popular covers of modern songs. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, March 29, 7 p.m.

Retro-gaming Tournament
Compete to win prizes as you play your favorite classic games like Pac-Man and Mario Kart 64 with other game lovers, or just play for fun in a casual and friendly environment. All ages welcome. Registration is suggested. Saturday, March 31, 1-4 p.m.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Tuesdays, April 3, 17; May 1, 15, 29, 6:30 p.m.

Paint Night
Paint your own masterpiece and discover your creativity! Each artist will have a finished painting to take home at the end of the night. Sign-ups are limited to two spots per person. Both nights will feature the same painting, so sign ups per person are limited to one night each. Sixteen and over, please. All supplies provided, and registration is strongly encouraged by calling 330-467-8595, or by stopping in the library. Wednesday, April 4 and Wednesday, May 2, 6-8 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss I Still Dream About You, by Fannie Flagg, on Monday, April 9 at 2 p.m.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. We will decoupage vases and make tissue paper flowers on Monday, April 9, 6 p.m.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, April 10, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, April 10, 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, April 12 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.

Science Saturday
Join us for great hands on STEAM fun! Children, school age and up, bring your moms, dads, and the whole family. Saturday, April 14, 2:30 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, April 16 – We are going to make a parakeet puppet.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

After School Club
On Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m., make a marble maze.
