Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the September project, color-by-number an autumn picture!
Medicare 101
Viktoria Jurkovic with the Ohio Department of Insurance’s OSHIIP division will provide an overview of Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare supplement insurance. Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program representatives are trained by the state, and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies, or agents. Registration is suggested. Star Trek Celebrates 50
Julie Washington of the Plain Dealer discusses the landmark science fiction television show, its many related projects, and the impact it has had on pop culture during the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek. Members of the USS Lagrange Starfleet organization will also be on hand with giveaways, coloring sheets, trivia, and more. You can also take a selfie with Spock! Thursday, September 15, 7 p.m. Registration is suggested.
Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, September 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.
3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, September 19, we will read Brambleheart by Henry Cole.
Mini Teen Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m. we will get together and create with a different medium. On Tuesday, September 20, we’re going to program Ozobots.
College Planning Workshop
Come learn the number one way to get more free money for college, how to get the maximum amount of financial aid, and tips on the ACT, SAT, & AP exams. Find out why the new FAFSA rules will cost you thousands of dollars in financial aid and why you should NEVER own a 529 plan or some other popular college savings plans. This workshop is presented in association with Joel Wymer, Certified College Planner of College Planning Strategies. Tuesday, September 20, 6:30 p.m.
Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 21.
Travel Talk: Greenland & Denmark
Dr. Anne Schoeffler discusses her 2016 summer trip to Greenland and Denmark, with a special focus on her research work on climate science. This includes photos of the expedition. Registration is suggested. Wednesday, September 21, 7 p.m.
Titanic: Tragedy of Errors

Collectible Card Games Day

Adult Coloring Night

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our next discussion will be The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, by Stieg Larsson, on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m.
10th Annual Murder Mystery: “The Oracle’s Misfortune”
Saturday, October 1, 6 p.m. Madame Vestra has been murdered at the old haunted Sagamore Mansion, and the guilty ghoul is on the loose! Prizes for the successful sleuth, and food for all. For all patrons 16 & over. Ticket entry required. Tickets are free – two per person only. Register in person.
DIY Tie-Dye Shirt
Try this new spin on classic tie-dye! With permanent markers and rubbing alcohol, create your own no-mess tie-dye shirt. All supplies provided. This class is limited to twenty participants, so registration is suggested. Tuesday, October 4, 6 p.m.

Folk Music Concert: Andy & Judy
Listen to the folk music of this New England duo on guitars, mandolin and banjo. Original music inspired by the experiences and wisdom gained through everyday living. Music ranges from older traditional songs through the folk music stalwarts such as Prine, Dylan, Ian and Sylvia, Peter, Paul, & Mary, and others.
